The resulting synchronization decreases the quantity and lengths of communications wires between sensors and the data acquisition system (DAQ). The high cost of long sensor communications wire is replaced with simple, inexpensive data cable. Reducing the distance for analog signals to travel to the DAQ also reduces the opportunities for signal corruption from noise.
