05305-LC Wind Monitor AQ for CS110 or MetData1
Reliable, Accurate Wind Measurements
Compatible with most Campbell Scientific dataloggers
weather applications water applications energy applications gas flux & turbulence applications infrastructure applications soil applications

Overview

The 05305 is a high-performance wind-speed and wind-direction sensor designed specifically for air-quality measurements. It provides a lower starting threshold, faster response, and higher accuracy than the other wind monitors. However, to achieve the superior performance, the 05305 is less ruggedly constructed.

The 05305 is a lightweight instrument that measures wind speed and wind direction. Manufactured by R. M. Young, the wind monitor is cabled for use with Campbell Scientific dataloggers. The wind monitor's design emphasizes simplicity and lightweight construction. It is made out of rigid, UV-stabilized thermoplastic, with stainless-steel and anodized-aluminum fittings. The thermoplastic material resists corrosion from sea-air environments and atmospheric pollutants. The wind monitor uses stainless-steel, precision-grade ball bearings for the propeller shaft and vertical shaft bearings.

Benefits and Features

  • Compatible with most Campbell Scientific dataloggers
  • Meets or exceeds requirements of the following regulatory agencies: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency, and American Nuclear Society
  • The R. M. Young wind monitor family:
    • 05103, standard version
    • 05103-45, rugged, alpine version
    • 05305, more responsive but less rugged version
    • 05106, marine-grade version

The "-LC" version of this product terminates in a connector (instead of pigtails) for use with a CS110 Electric Field Meter or MetData1 Weather Station.  The length of the cable is specified at the time of order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Number of FAQs related to 05305-LC: 2

  1. The information included on a calibration sheet differs with each sensor. For some sensors, the sheet contains coefficients necessary to program a datalogger. For other sensors, the calibration sheet is a pass/fail report.

  2. This depends on the information contained in the calibration sheet:

    • If the calibration sheet contains coefficient information, Campbell Scientific keeps a copy, and a replacement copy can be requested.
    • If the calibration sheet does not contain coefficients, Campbell Scientific does not keep a copy. It may be possible to contact the original manufacturer for a replacement copy.
