The EnviroSCAN probe provides soil-water-content profiles for irrigation scheduling or other water movement systems. The measurement range is oven dry to saturation. The probes measure soil moisture at multiple depths and are easy to install. Tools offered by Campbell Scientific allow the probes to be installed with minimal soil disturbance. EnviroSCAN is recommended for higher accuracy research measurements, measurements deeper than 80 cm, or stony soils. It is customizable by adding sensors at user-specified depths.

The EnviroSCAN includes several water content sensors that measure soil water at multiple depths. Around each sensor, the probe creates a high frequency electrical field that extends through the access tube into the soil. Electrical capacitance is then measured and soil water content is determined from those measurements.
Each water content sensor outputs an SDI-12 signal that our CR200(X)-series, CR800, CR850, CR1000, and CR3000 dataloggers can measure. This allows the probes to be integrated with a Campbell Scientific datalogger or weather station. Integrating the probes into our data acquisition systems allows the data to be telemetered back to a field station or remote computer.
EnviroSCAN is customized for individual applications by adding sensors at user-specified measurement depths. The maximum measurement depth of the standard configuration is 2 m (6 ft); deeper measurements are possible with special provisions.
