Campbell Scientific offers a selection of training to help delegates and Campbell Scientific users get the most from their product, system, or project.

Training courses are a great way to get to know your Campbell Scientific product. The courses are designed to enable you to get the most out of your Campbell Scientific product, helping you understand and apply the core concepts related to operating, managing, and collecting data from Campbell Scientific sensors and systems. Whether you are a beginner or a more advanced user, our training courses offer something for everyone.

Our course options

In-Person

Campbell Scientific offers several different multi-day in-person training courses for our data loggers and software.

The In-Person CRBasic Datalogger and LoggerNet 4.x Training Course (2.6 CEUs) is an introductory, hands-on CRBasic data logger/LoggerNet training course designed for students from all disciplines. It is suitable for both new users and intermediate users who want a stronger understanding of data loggers and CRBasic programming. The course is based on LoggerNet and CRBasic dataloggers, including the CR1000, CR1000X, CR1000Xe, CR6-series, CR300-series, CR350, CR3000, CR800-series, and CR200X-series. Attendance is in person at our manufacturing facility in Logan, Utah, where a private training room provides a personalized learning environment.

The In-Person Geotechnical and Structural Training Course (2.4 CEUs) is designed for geotechnical and structural practitioners who want hands-on experience with sensors, techniques, communications methods, and tools commonly used in monitoring systems and applications. The course is based on the Campbell Scientific CR6 but incorporates other data loggers and devices, including the Granite™9, CR1000Xe, CRVW3, AVW200, VWAnalyzer, Granite Volt 108/116, Granite VWire 305, and Granite Temp 120.

Throughout the course, attendees will use LoggerNet tools such as CRBasic, Setup, Device Configuration Utility, Network Planner, and PakBus Graph, along with additional software including Short Cut, SURVEYOR, and DVW Toolbox.

Active participation is expected, and attendees will have opportunities to develop application-specific data acquisition designs with support from classmates and instructors.

Recommended prerequisites include previous experience with Campbell Scientific equipment or completion of the CRBasic Datalogger/LoggerNet Training Course.

The In-Person Eddy Covariance Training Course (2.4 CEUs) focuses on the proper use of Campbell Scientific equipment in eddy-covariance measurements. The course provides an overview of micrometeorology theory as it relates to eddy covariance, including basic theory and assumptions for the proper use and installation of eddy-covariance systems. Attendees will work with equipment such as the IRGASON, EC150/CSAT3A, and EC155/CSAT3A while networking with other professionals who use Campbell Scientific equipment.

Virtual

The Virtual CRBasic Datalogger and LoggerNet 4.x Training Course (2.6 CEUs) is conducted via a Microsoft Teams meeting online with the ability to interact with other professionals using Campbell Scientific products when traveling to our facility is not an option. The virtual training course, suitable for both new users and intermediate users, is the same comprehensive, introductory-level course as the in-person training course, offering the ability to gain a greater understanding of the data logger and CRBasic programming.

Campbell Scientific Learning Center—Self-Paced

Each Campbell Scientific Learning Center—Self-Paced Training Course introduces new users to Campbell Scientific software and hardware through remote, self-paced training on CR1000 dataloggers. Students have 30 days to complete each course at their own convenience. The courses may be taken individually or as a bundle:

• The Field Technician Training Course (CORE101) is a foundational building class about power, grounding, and the installation of equipment in the field with an introduction to collecting and viewing data.
• The LoggerNet Software Training Course (CORE201) shows or discusses what each of the LoggerNet tools will do for you.
• The CRBasic Programming Training Course (CORE202) explains how to choose which data to store, determine the appropriate scan interval (program execution interval), and select the correct instructions for measurements. Additionally, this course covers the meaning of each of the measurement parameters.
• You can bundle the first three courses (CORE101, 201, and 202) at a discounted rate with CORE101 offered at no charge.
• Coming soon: The Communications Training Course (CORE301) covers some of the communications protocols that the data loggers can use (ethernet, PPP, serial, email, FTP, Modbus, HTTP, MQTT/CampbellON™, radio, satellite, Pakbus) and provides an introduction to Pakbus Networking.
• Coming soon: With the deluxe bundle, you can bundle all four courses (CORE101, 201, 202, 301) at a discounted rate with CORE101 offered at no charge.

Campbell Scientific, Inc. provides certificates that attendees may submit to their appropriate regulatory agencies for Professional Development Hours (PDH). Each course is eligible for eight PDH, with up to 24 hours available upon completion of the first three courses (CORE101, 201, and 202). Trainees are responsible for applying for credit through their regulatory agency.
