Free Support Yes

The SP10R is a 10-W photovoltaic power source capable of recharging batteries. It has an on-board voltage regulator. The user-defined-length cable has stripped and tinned leads that connect directly to a user-supplied deep-cycle battery.

The SP10R is a sufficient charging source for many of our system configurations in tropical to temperate latitudes. It allows unattended operation of systems in remote locations, far from AC electrical sources.

Benefits and Features

  • Supplies electrical power in locations where ac power is unreliable, expensive, or not available
  • On-board voltage regulator allows direct connection to a user-supplied external battery

Detailed Description

The SP10R includes mounting hardware consisting of the #17492 U-bolt and Matching Nuts. The #17492 U-bolt provides a 2.125" (5.398 cm) space between the U-bolt legs. This hardware allows the solar panel to be mounted to a 0.75" to 1.5" IPS pipe (1" to 2" OD).

-NOTE- Solar panel characteristics assume 1 kW m-2 illumination and 25°C solar panel temperature. Individual panels may vary up to 10%. The output panel voltage increases as the panel temperature decreases.
Cable Description 20 AWG, 1-twisted pair
Maximum Allowable Wind Gust Speed
  • Note: The wind ratings are for solar panels with the indicated mounts and do not account for strength of tower or tripod.
  • 58 m s-1 (130 mph) Standard mount
  • 58 m s-1 (130 mph) Extended mount
Maximum Peak Power 10 W
Current at Peak 0.59 A
Voltage at Peak 16.8 V

Dimensions 41.9 x 26.9 x 2.3 cm (16.5 x 10.6 x 0.9 in.)
Weight 3.0 kg (6.6 lb)

The solar panel includes an onboard regulator to connect directly to a user-supplied flood battery.

The SP10R-L is compatible with user-supplied, flooded, 12 Vdc batteries, such as deep-cycle marine or RV batteries.

  • Flooded batteries should be charged with the 18529 MorningStar SunSaver regulator or the SP10R.
  • The SP10R draws a continuous 2 mA current drain. The 18529 MorningStar SunSaver draws a continuous 8 mA current drain.
