Overview
The CR23X Micrologger® was a portable, self-contained package that could store over 1,000,000 data points. It consisted of measurement and control electronics, communication ports, keyboard, 2-line alphanumeric display, power supply, and a battery-backed clock. The CR23X measured most sensor types directly, communicated via modems, reduced data, controlled external devices, and stored both data and programs in either non-volatile Flash memory or battery-backed SRAM.
Technical Description
The CR23X is a self-contained, rugged data logger that can measure most sensor types directly, communicate via modems, reduce data, control external devices, and store both data and programs in either non-volatile Flash memory or battery-backed SRAM.
The CR23X has an integral, 2-line, alphanumeric display and power supply. A battery-backed, real-time clock and 2M of nonvolatile data storage is included. The CR23Xs are available with a sealed rechargeable battery base, an alkaline base, or in a low-profile version without batteries.
Benefits
- Compact, self-contained data logger
- Stores 1,000,000 data points (nonvolatile)

Replacement Parts
(13)3315
Type T Thermocouple
This type T thermocouple was attached to a differential channel when the CR23X was shipped. The programming examples in the Overview Section of the data logger manual use the 3315.
Orderable42816
1/2-Unit Desiccant Bags (quantity of 10)
The 42816 desiccant is used to desiccate small subassemblies. For example, the KH20 Krypton Hygrometer and the base of the CR3000 Measurement and Control Datalogger each require two bags. Multi-packs are recommended for customers who need to desiccate multiple enclosures or systems.
Orderable3768
2-Pin Screw Terminal Plug Connector
This green, plug-in power connector is shipped attached to the CR23X dataloggers. The 3768 provides screw terminals for connecting the 12 V and GND wires of the data loggger's power supply.
Orderable10645
Screw #10-32 x .312 Pan Slot, Brass
The 10645 is the screw used in the ground lug.
Orderable10273
3 V 123 A Lithium Battery
The 10273 lithium battery maintains power to volatile areas of CR23X memory (e.g., clock) when the main power supply is disconnected or turned off.
Orderable10695
CR3000 or CR23X Low-Profile Base without Battery
The 10695 low profile base can be ordered to replace a damaged base or to retrofit the data logger with a different base. This base is intended for applications where user-supplied batteries are used.
Orderable10518
CR3000 or CR23X Sealed Rechargeable Battery Base
The 10518 rechargeable base can be ordered to replace a damaged base or to retrofit the data logger with a different base. This base includes two 6-V, 7-Ahr sealed rechargeable batteries (see below).
Orderable8219
6 V 7 Ah Lead Acid Battery
The 8219 is a 6-Vdc, 7-Ahr sealed rechargeable battery used in the 10518 rechargeable base. To provide 12 Vdc, two of these batteries are wired in series. Customers can generally replace the batteries.
Orderable7843
Green 2-Pin Screw Terminal Plug Connector with Threaded Flange
The 7843 is the 2-pin, detachable, power supply connector (green) supplied with the rechargeable base. It is easily replaced by the user.
OrderableDCDC18R
12 to 18 Vdc Boost Regulator
The DCDC18R Boost Regulator accepts an 11 to 16 Vdc input and boosts it to 18 Vdc, which allows automotive supply voltages to recharge the CR23X's sealed rechargeable batteries.
Orderable8125
Flat-Bladed Screwdriver, 2.5 mm Blade x 50 mm Shaft
The 8125 is a small, flat-bladed screwdriver that is extremely useful for opening the guillotine terminals on our data loggers and measurement control devices.
Orderable10873
Serial Data Cable, 9-Pin Socket (Female) to 9-Pin Pin (Male)
The 10873 is a serial cable that is useful for connecting the RS-232 port of the data logger to the 9-pin RS-232 port of a computer. The cable is six feet long.
Orderable10871
RS-232 Data Cable Adapter, DB9 Pin (Male) to DB25 Socket (Female)
The 10871 provides a 9-pin pin (male) connector on one end and a 25-pin socket (female) connector on the other end. Typically, this serial adapter is used to connect the data logger's 9-pin RS-232 port to a PC's 25-pin RS-232 port.

Services
(3)15846
CR23X Extended Temperature Test (-40° to +80°C)
The 15846 is available only for individual CR23X dataloggers that have previously passed extended temperature testing. Testing also requires concurrent purchase of calibration (16543).
Orderable16543
CR23X Calibration with Data (-25° to +50°C)
The 16543 requires an RMA (Return Material Authorization) from Campbell Scientific. When ordered, the CR23X is calibrated to meet original specifications. Calibration includes standard temperature testing (-25° to +50°C). Before and after calibration sheets are supplied with the Micrologger. The calibration price assumes return of a fully functional data logger; charges for all repairs will be added to the invoice.
Orderable16157
CR23X Tested to Extended Temperature (-40° to +80°C)
The 16157 provides extended temperature testing for the CR23X datalogger; requires a Return Materials Authorization. Analog accuracies are derated approximately two times over published specifications. Extended temperature testing is typically specified at the time of data logger purchase and performed before the data logger leaves the factory.
