Overview
The 43347, manufactured by R. M. Young, is a highly accurate RTD that often provides delta temperature measurements for air-quality applications. To greatly reduce radiation errors, house your 43347 in a 43502 fan-aspirated radiation shield.
Key Advantages
Good for air-quality applications
Technical Description
To determine delta temperature, a 43347 probe mounted in a 43502 shield is attached to the mast of a UT20 or UT30 tower, while another 43347 probe mounted in a 43502 shield is attached to the tower at a 2-m height. (The 43502 attaches to the legs of a UT20 or UT30 tower via a CM202, CM203, CM204, or CM206 crossarm. Two CM210s can be used to attach the crossarm to two tower legs.) The temperature difference of the two measurement heights is calculated and used to determine atmospheric stability as required by the EPA.
The 43347 may also be housed in a 41003-5 Naturally Aspirated Shield if fan-driven aspiration is not required. Additional hardware is required (see Ordering Info and Compatibility).
The standard 43347 probe has an RTD uncertainty of ±0.3°C. If increased accuracy is required, a three-point calibration can be ordered that allows the RTD to have an uncertainty of only ±0.1°C.

Other Accessories
(3)41003-5
10-Plate Solar Radiation Shield
The 41003-5 naturally aspirated radiation shield can serve as an alternative to the 43502 if a fan-driven aspiration shield is not required. The 27251 split nut is required to use the 41003-5 with the 43447 (see below).
Orderable27251
Hex Plug for 43347
This split nut is required to secure the 43347 RTD into the 41003-5 radiation shield's base. The 27251 is used instead of the split nut that's provided with the 41003-5.
OrderableRAD10
10-Plate Solar Radiation Shield for Small Sensors
When exposed to sunlight, the 43347 must be housed in a radiation shield. The RAD10 uses a double-louvered design that offers improved sensor protection from driving rain, snow, and insect intrusion. It also has lower self-heating in bright sunlight combined with higher temperatures (> 24°C (~75°F)) and low wind speeds (< 2m/s (~4.5 mph)), providing a better measurement.

Replacement Parts
(2)43347CBL2
Replacement Cable for the 43347 (4-wire half bridge)
The 43347CBL2 cable is supplied with sensor when the -VX wiring configuration option has been chosen, and may be purchased as a replacement item. It connects the 43347 to the voltage excitation channels on the datalogger.
Orderable43347CBL1
Replacement Cable for the 43347 (current excitation)
The 43347CBL1 is intended for replacement only. This cable supports attachment of the 43347 RTD to the current excitation channel of a CR3000 or CR5000 datalogger. A similar replacement cable, the 43347CBL2, should be ordered if the probe is measured in a 4-wire half bridge configuration.

Mounting
The 43347 is typically housed in a 43502 Aspirated Radiation Shield to provide delta-temperature measurements for air quality applications. Delta temperature measurements use two 43502s attached at different heights.
The 41003-5 naturally aspirated radiation shield can serve as an alternative to the 43502 if a fan-driven aspiration shield is not required. The 27251 split nut plug must be used.
Both the 43502 and 41003-5 can be attached to either a mast or crossarm.
Data Logger Considerations
The 43347 comes in two versions—the "IX" version and the "VX" version. The "IX" version connects to a current excitation channel; only the CR3000 and CR5000 are compatible with the -IX.
The "VX" version connects directly to voltage excitation channels. All compatible data loggers can use the VX version.
