CR350 connection to Renogy RS233 voltage compatibility

jfarrell Apr 21, 2026 04:00 AM

Hello,

My CR350 datalogger and instruments are charged by a Renogy solar panel and charger.  I think the standard Renogy Wanderer charger module has an RS232 port (RJ12, 6-pin conection) with Tx/Rx on two of the pins.

I'd like to communicate with the Renogy controller using COM3 Tx/Rx terminals on the CR350 logger; however, I am concerned that the voltage on the Renogy Tx will be greater than what the CR350 can handle.

Is this a legitimate concern?  If so, maybe the DB9 connection would be better to handle higher voltage.

Thank you!

If the RS-232 connection of the Renogy complies with RS-232, COM3 can handle the voltages. COM3 was designed to handle standard RS-232 voltages.
