LoggerNet Patch
v4.10.1This patch will upgrade LoggerNet, LoggerNet Remote or LoggerNet Admin version 4.0 and newer to 4.10.1. A version of LoggerNet 4.x must be installed on the computer.
Note: This patch includes RTMC Run-time and the RTMC Standard Development v5.0.1. If you are using RTMC Pro 4.3.3 or older or CSI Web Server 1.6 or older and plan to continue creating RTMC projects, we recommend that you opt out on updating RTMC during the install or upgrade to RTMC Pro v5.0.1.
LoggerNet Admin and Remote:
A change was made in the way the LoggerNet 4.6 Server performs "Custom Data Collection". A corresponding change was made in the Connect Screen 4.6 client "Custom Data Collection" functionality.
If you require "Custom Data Collection" functionality with the Connect Screen client, assure that the LoggerNet Servers and Connect Screen clients are 4.6 or higher.
This application requires the Microsoft .Net 4.6.2 Framework. If it is not already installed on your computer, it can be obtained from the Microsoft Download Center.

- LoggerNet - An Allowed Neighbors tab has also been added to the PakBusPort device. This allows you to specify a list of PakBus addresses that the port will accept as neighbors.
- LoggerNet - In addition, a Neighbor PakBus Address field has been added to the Datalogger Settings screen in the EZSetup Wizard. This allows you to specify the neighbor you will go through to connect to your datalogger. For example, this can be used to enter the PakBus address of a Konect PakBus router.
- LoggerNet - Also, a TCP Password field has been added to the Security Settings screen in the EZSetup Wizard to control IP access to a datalogger.
- LoggerNet - In LoggerNet Admin, you can now add, delete, and edit stations while viewing a subnet. Previously, you had to change your view to the whole network before making station changes.

- LoggerNet Server - Added a try/catch block in the posix TCP client component around the code that attempts connections on various resolved addresses. If a connection fails, the catch will ensure that the socket is closed and will allow us to attempt the next connection.
- LoggerNet Server - Added a new value for to the respCode parameter of the Device Send File Status Notification and Device Send Program File Status Notification messages that will indicate that the logger reported that the file was incompatible. Added an optional parameter, explanation, that report the datalogger string that explains the reason for this incompatibility.
- LoggerNet Server - Fixed a bug in the BMP5 file send operation where the datalogger explanation string was not read from the datalogger's response because the code was not reading the file offset from the body first. Also added code to ensure that the comms log messages recognize the incompatible file response code.
- LoggerNet Server - Added a new collect area setting for ALERT2 sensor report areas that will control the data type that is used for the raw and processed values stored in the cache table.

- LoggerNet Server - Changed the BMP5 enumerate files operation so that, if the client does not specify a preceding slash when it needs to limit the files sent, that slash will be provided automatically.
- LoggerNet Server - Added code to log comms messages for the alert2 base when there is a communications failure
- LoggerNet Server - Added code in the restore snapshot handler to work around a bug where, in older versions of backup files, files lengths were encoded as size_t (64 bits on 64 bit machines) instead of the expected uint4. The result was that, when attempting to restore the older file, the newer server would report it as corrupt. The validation code will now check the length encoding for the first file by reading eight bytes for the length and, if the least significant four bytes are zero, will expect all string lengths to be encoded with 64 bits instead of 32 bits.
- LoggerNet Server - Fixed an oversight where the connection rules did not allow a CR1000X to be configured as a child to a CR800 router.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the current focus object state log messages produced so that they will include the destination address and transaction ids in the message. This will hopefully make it easier to track down problems with frozen focus.
- LoggerNet Server - Fixed a bug where the alert2 base monitor command was not being removed when communications were disabled. This resulted in any attempt to delete the base while it was on-line getting stuck waiting for the base to go off-line.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the base PakBus router code so that, when a link is reported deleted and there are pending transactions that appear to use that link, a failure will be reported for those transactions. This may be of some use to customers who are experiencing problems with transactions getting stuck in the queue after a hello message timed out.
- LoggerNet Server - Added code in the periodic save device handler for PakBus/TCP routers that will check the routes for any unrouted messages that have been enqueued for longer than one minute, require a static route, and there is a route for that static route's neighbour. When these conditions are satisfied, a delivery failure will be reported for that neighbour and port.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the log baler component to use the Csi::move_file() function to rename log files rather than the "C" run time version. The move_file() function can work with unicode file names while, apparently, the ::rename() expects multi-byte format.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the method that calculates the time stamp for an alert2 sensor report value so that, if the sensor report does not have a reported time stamp, the received time less any specified time offset will be used as the time stamp for the value.
- LoggerNet Server - Fixed a bug where, if a table based collect area was renamed, the transactions that enumerate tables for data brokers and devices were not being updated.
- LoggerNet Server - Removed the code that generates a default set of sensor reports when a new alert2 station is added. It is much simpler to allow the client to perform this as that leaves only one place where we have to worry about what those defaults should be.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the file control operation for BMP5 dataloggers so that, if an OS is being started, we will force the server to wait a minimum of 2.5 minutes (150 seconds) before attempting to restart the link to the datalogger.
- LoggerNet Server - Added a watch dog timer for the communication command used to communicate with an ALERT2 base so that a beacon (\r\n) will be sent on the link if more than two minutes elapse without receiving any data on the link.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the rename() method for the base TableArea class for collect areas so that the tables written setting gets updated with the new name. This will ensure that the enabled state will be correctly reported to the table collator.
- LoggerNet Server - Added an optional parameter to the LgrNet Restore Snapshot command that allows the client to specify the state of the LgrNet commEnabled state when the restoration is complete.
- LoggerNet Server - Removed support for the NTCIP-RWIS version 1 and version 2 type stations. These relied on increasingly antiquated libraries that were difficult to update and rebuild for static linking and were not used by our customers.
- LoggerNet Server - Fixed a bug in the windows version of TCP clients where socket handles could be leaked when trying more than one address to reach a named host. This manifested as a server lock-up on large networks where some sites failed to connect.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the PakBus/TCP server so that the max time on-line setting is ignored.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the parser for newer BMP5 datalogger table definitions so that, if only the table size has been changed, the new size is larger than the existing table.
- LoggerNet Server - Overloaded the comm disabled handler for the BMP5 hangup delay operation as well as for the clock check/set operation in order to ensure that these operations are closed when communication becomes disabled.
- LoggerNet Server - Added a new message that will be broadcast to all LgrNet session clients when a snapshot has been restored.
- LoggerNet Server - Fixed a bug where the pakbus encryption key settings was not reported for any of the granite series loggers.

- LoggerNet Server - Changed the BMP5 implementation for the program file send transaction so that the program is not stopped when sending an OS to a CR300, CR6, CR1000X, GRANITE 9, GRANITE 6, or GRANITE 10 dataloggers.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the file synch so that the history now tracks when a file should be deleted but wasn't able to because of comm failures. This addresses a problem that was found on Mount Everest where the link was timing out before we had retrieved all of the files and none of the files that should have been deleted were ever deleted.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the file synch so that pending deletes take precedence over pending retrievals.
- LoggerNet Server - Fixed a bug in the BMP5 set variable implementation that prevented the server from setting string variables that were declared with a size greater than or equal to 995. The implementation was producing a PakBus message that was unrouteable due to its size. The fix is to avoid attempting to fill all bytes of the variable with trailing nulls but to set the variable to the client specified value with at least one trailing null. If the result is too large, the transaction will be reported as a failure. Eventually, we will need to create a new transaction that can be used to transfer large objects for variable values.
- LoggerNet Server - Removed the code that set the lastComPortId setting when handling an incoming socket for callback.
- LoggerNet Server - Implemented the code that creates the new data file import collect area as well as settings to support that area type. Also implemented the code that parses data files and attempts to import their data into new or existing broker tables.

- Network Planner - Changed the devconfig device description class so that, rather than parsing the complete device description when constructed from a file, the "header" of the file will be scanned using the new event based XML parser. When the device description is needed to read settings, the file(s) will be reopened and parsed completely. This significantly reduces the amount of memory required for the settings library manager to load as well as the amount of time that is required to start up devconfig and related programs.
- Network Planner - Added support for the CR300-RF407, CR310, and CR310-RF407 device types. These are variations on the CR300 with built in RF407 radios and/or Ethernet interfaces.

This addresses an issue where the station name written to new data file headers was an empty string if the first attempt to get compile results after starting the server failed.
- LoggerNet Server - Fixed a bug where the overloaded versions of on_callback_wait_end() were not called because the signature of the method was changed. This manifested itself as a problem handling call-back with a phone modem connection, where the connection was established and abandoned after a two-minute interval because the modem's callback ring timer was never cleared.
- LoggerNet Server - Fixed a bug for BMP5 dataloggers where an access violation could occur when testing to see if a closing operation was a get compile results op.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the BMP5 file synch operation so the directory request will include a wild card if there is no given file specification. This addresses a problem with recent datalogger operating systems where the datalogger fails to enumerate the files if no colon or pattern was given.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the various error counters mapped from the status table to signed integers and set their default value to -1 to indicate that the value is unknown. Also set the process string for this to a value of "error_counter" in order for the status monitor to be able to apply special formatting for these that will leave negative values as blank.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the statistic that maps the datalogger lithium battery voltage so that this is initialized to a value of NaN and changed the process string of these to "battery_voltage" so that the status monitor can leave NaN values as blank and not be inclined to format these values with three fixed decimal digits.
- LoggerNet Server - Added the ability to register string values in the statistics table and created a status table map for the CR300's new LithiumBattery value which gets reported as a string rather than a floating point voltage value.

- LoggerNet Server - Fixed a bug in the file synch poll operation where the client acknowledgement was sent after the polling process was notified. That order could result in the operation being deleted when trying to send the client acknowledgement and lead to an attempt to access released storage.
- LoggerNet Server - Added code to the timed method for PakBus routers that periodically checks the validity of the current transaction focus so if there is no route available for that transaction, the transaction will be considered invalid, an error (unreachable) will be reported, and the current focus cleared.
- LoggerNet Server - Implemented a new collect mode, backfill by interval, for the BMP5, BMP3, and BMP1 versions of the logger query transaction. The server interface version has been set to 1.12.06 to reflect this support.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed code that was recently introduced in the PakBus router that will invalidate transactions if there is no router to carry them out so that this rule will not be applied to hello transactions.
- LoggerNet Server - Changed the code that handles the case where the datalogger reports that the file is inaccessible or the name is invalid so that the file is removed from the get queue and is also removed from the files history. This will allow us to "rediscover" the file on a future poll if the file really is inaccessible. This addresses an issue where it would appear that the datalogger was removing the file between the time that we got the directory and the time we started asking for the file. In this case, the file name would get stuck in the get queue and we would ask for it over and over without giving up.

- RTMC - Fixed and issue where some images were being abandoned on the disk in the temp directory. Animated images are now copied to a temp location and then loaded. This allows animated images from a URL to be loaded as well as animated images to be overwritten. We now try the TEMP directory, then the TMP directory, and if those aren't defined in the environment, then we create an image_cache folder in the RTMC working directory.
- RTMC - Added a new Julian Date option to FormatTime. The option is specified by using a %J. The software now allows %J for Julian Date and %j for specifying Julian Day.
- RTMC - Fixed an error with the CS110 where sounds were overlapping with each other.
- RTMC - Fixed an issue where Boolean values were always displayed as False.
- RTMC - Fixed an issue where a zero-length string caused labels to overlap.

- Short Cut - Modified the program to prevent ground wires from being moved from G terminal to Ground terminal and prevent Ground wires from being moved to G terminal. With preferred grounds, all grounds are in a common group.
- Short Cut - Fixed an issue where the input location ID was showing up for CRBasic type of dataloggers in the summary for labels created by used defined expressions.
- Short Cut - Added a custom check to look for and prevent SDI-12 and Pulse channels on channel pairs for the CR6. Also on the control ports for the CR1000X. These are not allowed but are outside the normal rules for channel pairs .
- Short Cut - Modified to allow multiple decimal chars when editing a string field (like an IP address).
- Short Cut - Enhanced to allow manual setting of high resolution for long data type.
- Short Cut - Added new functionality: when loading a saved program, add any new channel types that are found in the DLF file. For example, switchclosure channels were added to the CR6. This was needed as we learned that switch closure connections on control ports are different than on U terminals (U terminal switch to ground and C port switch to 5V). So a new switchclosure channel type was added, and the C ports were removed from the pulse channel type. Caveats: Using the C ports requires a U port to be configured as a 5V source, as the CR6 has no 5V terminal. Since the C ports are only used when the U terminals are full, the user probably will not have one available. Also, when a saved program is loaded, the old pulse channel definitions are still used, so they will continue to be allocated and will not work. This will not be addressed as it is very unlikely to occur. The work-around is to start a new Short Cut program. We also added a new channel type of SDI-12 to the CRx000 and CR10X family of loggers. This is so the data connection could be moved instead of being on a fixed port. This required updated sensor files and datalogger files. This will allow updated datalogger and sensor files to work with new channel types.
- Short Cut - Fixed an issue when making the working directory save work.

- Server Bug Fix - Fixed a problem in the base class for classic datalogger commands where, if the command failed because of an invalid echo and the server immediately started on another command (say an failed "F" command followed by a "G" command), there server would make no attempt to resynchronize the link with the datalogger. This would end up sending the characters for the subsequent command as if they were a part of the preceding command.
- Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the interpretation of the classic logger ports byte reported through the K command where the code was using a multiply operator rather than a mask operator when picking out the value for the fourth port. The result of this error was that the fourth port would be reported high if any other port was high.
- Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where a data broker could attempt to mount two tables with the same name and, when this happened, one table status would be marked as needing to mount. This was caused by a bug in the unicode string comparison function where, if doing a case insensitive comparison, the conversion to upper case would silently fail for non-ascii characters.
- Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where the post_kill_event() method for classic datalogger commands where the notification could be posted multiple times for the same failure. A flag is now used to track whether the event has already been posted. This addresses a problem reported by a customer using an RF-MD9-classic logger link where multiple fault messages were posted for the same failed command. This led to inflation of the error rate and a corresponding decrease in packet size.
- Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug, introduced in LN 4.3, where retries were no longer enabled for the classic datalogger position modem pointer (G) command.
- Server Bug Fix - Added code in the BMP5 file synch operation to use a colon to separate the file spec from the drive when it is specified when requesting a directory from the datalogger. This addresses a problem where the datalogger was returning an empty file set when the drive and file name pattern were both specified.
- Server Bug Fix - Added code to ensure that the comms provider objet is not accessed without first checking its validity. This may address a problem that a customer is experiencing with crashing the LN Linux server while user serial port pools.
- Server Bug Fix - Added code to the exception handler for the code that posts a message when bytes have been read so that the flag is set that will allow future posts if the post fails. This code will now post a message to the object state log. This may address a problem that a customer has encountered while using modem pools on LN/Linux.
- Server Bug Fix - Added code to ensure that the flag that prevents sending redundant bytes received posts gets cleared after one second of inactivity and also gets cleared when the port is opened.
- Server Bug Fix - Removed code that was posting object state log messages from the root level provider thread. This could lead to corruption in the log queue.
- Server Bug Fix - Changed the Posix implementation of the TCP socket so that, when bytes are written to the socket, the MSG_NOSIGNAL flag is specified to keep the sockets layer from crashing the application with an unwanted signal.
- Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where the overloads in BMP1 and BMP5 table collect areas for the report_hole_added() method no longer had the right signature. The result of this was that the station wouldn't check to see if it needed to collect holes when those holes were detected. This addresses a problem reported by a customer where hole collection was only happening every other time that one way data was received.
- Server Bug Fix - Changed the BMP5 implementation of the hole collect operation so that, if the response sent by the datalogger is outside the range expected by the computer, all pending holes will be considered lost and no new holes will be added. Previously, the server was assuming that the entire table could be collected as hole and the end result was that the server could get stuck in a loop where the same records were being collected over and over.
- Server Bug Fix - Changed the automated BMP5 hole collection operation so that it will only operate on non-cloned areas. This addresses a bug where hole collection was taking place on a cloned area (set up by the connect screen table monitor) when one way data came in.
- Server Bug Fix - Fixed as bug where records using an older table definition could get added to the record cache (used to prevent excess allocation of records). Found this while testing file control immediately followed by a get program stats for a BMP3 datalogger. The result was that the get program stats would fail with a communication error due to an unhandled exception thrown when the native record was copied to a cached record.
- Server Bug Fix - Changed the advise cursor for collected order so that, if the start option indicates a relative to newest time stamp or start at date, matching blocks of newer records will be considered even if their time is farther away than other blocks. This addresses a problem found with an XTD table that was filled using data advise. If an advise cursor was started with a backfill and newer matching records were logged before an older block of holes was collected, the newer records would be omitted from the set reported by the cursor. This also affected cloned tables since these also used collected order.

- Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where the settings manager component was returning true to the query of whether settings needed to be committed when there was a cancel or commit operation under way. The result was that DevConfig would post a modal dialogue confirming close if the user tried to close the application while a cancel or commit operation was under way and could result in an unhandled exception.
- Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the RF430 deployment where, when settings were loaded from the radio, the radio address control was initialized with the value of the network address.
- CoraScript Enhancement - Added support for the CRVW and CRS500 device types in the various commands that deal with device type.

- Server Enhancement - Added support for the CRVW and CRS500 datalogger types.
- Server Enhancement - Added code in the serial port thread so that, if the simplified I/O is enabled, the thread will use a timer that will get reset whenever data is transmitted or received. If this timer expires, the thread will call SetCommState() in an attempt to force communication over a USB serial port in order to test if the driver connection is still valid.
- Server Enhancement - Added support for an optional parameter to the device files enumerate command message that will allow the client to specify a pattern that will be used by BMP5 dataloggers to restrict the set of files that are reported.
- Server Enhancement - Implemented the device force link off line transaction.
- Server Enhancement - Added support for a new task setting, ftpEnableEpsv, that will control whether the task will allow the EPSV command to be used when sending a file using FTP.
- Server Enhancement - Changed the BMP5 implementation of the device set variable transaction so that it recognizes when the datalogger sends the response code indicating that it needs to reboot. The server will now shut down the link and wait for the specified amount of time before reporting the outcome and launching the poll.
- Server Enhancement - Added a new coralib function, cora_on_device_change(), that can be called to inform the server that a potential device remove device has been detected. Added code in the serial port class and its associated provider that will conduct a test to determine whether the serial port handle is still valid as a result of that method. Doing this gives the server a chance to detect USB serial port failures more reliably.
- Server Bug Fix - Changed the BMP1 operation/transaction relation so that the on_message_being_sent() operation method has the ability to prevent the message from being sent by its return value. This should prevent the BMP5 tunnel carrier operation from sending an empty message when the router has nothing to send.
- Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the code that registers a static route where we could use the wrong address to access the child list under certain configurations. This resulted in an unhandled exception that forced the server to reset.
- Server Bug Fix - Added an optional flag to the device startUp() method so that setting changed flags will be cleared only if that flag is set. Changed the rename and move network map modifiers so that this flag is not set when the newly renamed or moved devices are started. This will allow any pending changes to be written when the device configuration is written.
- Known Issues - RTMC will not function properly if the TeeChart control is newer than: TeeChart2011.0.0.5ActiveX.exe, January 12, 2012, Build 2011.0.0.5, File size - 30.86 MB. Therefore, if you install another application that overwrites this control with a newer version, you will see issues in RTMC. Re-installing LoggerNet will fix the problem.
- Known Issues - Mapped network drives cannot be used when LoggerNet is running as a service. This is caused by a Windows update that disallows the use of mapped network drives when running as a service for security reasons. To use network drives when running LoggerNet as a service, you must use the full UNC path (e.g., computer_namedirectory ilename). Note that the ability to write to the network drives will be governed by Windows security. It will be necessary to configure the LoggerNet service to run under an account that has network privileges. This requires changes to the properties of the LoggerNet service in Windows. Contact your network administrator for assistance.
- Known Issues - When using LogTool to zip all log files and certain file errors occur, the operation may still be reported as successful. For example, If LoggerNet is running as a service and an attempt is made zip all log files and store them in the root directory of a mapped network drive, a failure will probably occur as the service cannot access mapped drives but the operation is reported as successful.
- Known Issues - The following LNDB issue affects View Pro and RTMC Pro when using an LNDB database: If LNDB has been running with a SQL Server 2005 database, the timestamps in the tables will be of type DateTime. If you then upgrade to SQL Server 2008 the DateTime data type for the timestamps is carried over to the 2008 database. However, LNDB expects the timestamps to be of type DateTime2 which has a higher precision than DateTime. This type mismatch causes queries to fail. In order to fix this issue, you will need to use the SQL Server management tools to change the data type for the timestamp columns to DateTime2.
- Toolbar Enhancement - Added an "Allow IPv6 Connections" check box to the Tools
- Options dialog box. By default, IPv6 connections are not allowed. (Enabling IPv6 may cause problems if IPv6 is not fully functional in a network. The main issue is that clients cannot connect to the server.)
- Setup Screen Standard View Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in scheduled backups where the default value for number of files was set to zero. A value of zero causes all of the backup files to be retained. The default value has been changed back to 5.
- Task Master Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where data collection triggered by a task did not trigger any subsequent collection related tasks on the station collected from.
- Task Master Bug Fix - Fixed multiple issues with renaming of tasks and illegal naming of tasks.

- Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where changing the PC clock backwards caused scheduled collection, scheduled tasks, and scheduled backups to trigger immediately. Now the schedules' next time is recalculated only if the difference between the system time and the last time checked is greater than five minutes. This will make the LoggerNet server less sensitive to possible minor changes when the computer clock is updated.

- Server - Enhancements - Changed the BMP5 get compile results and get table definitions transactions to alter the compile results with a warning if there is a program running but there is no power up program running
- Server - Enhancements - Changed the file synch poll operation so that it will allow the temporary files to remain after a communication failure and, on the next collection, to attempt to collect starting from the end of these files. This behavior is not supported by the current released OS (cr1000.std.26) but will be in future operating system versions. Once this feature is supported by the datalogger, it could greatly reduce the amount of data that has to be transferred when trying to get data files again.
- Server - Enhancements - Changed functions and classes that deal with file names and directory names so that they assume the use of Unicode encoding.
- Server - Enhancements - Added code to the server and the PakBus router class that will allow us to track operation reports for PakBus operations such as the hello, send neighbors, get neighbors, echo (ping), and client sponsored PakBus transactions such as those used by PakBus Graph and the settings editor applications.

(This was already being done for the hole collection operation but was not for the table polling version.)
- Server - Bug Fixes - Fixed a bug that could crash the server when multiple set value commands were queued for a mixed-array datalogger while the datalogger was in an off-line state. This could set up the conditions where an infinite recursion took place until the program stack was exhausted and the server crashed.
- Server - Bug Fixes - Modified the code in the cache manager thread that adds records for a table so that older records will be eliminated if a set of records is larger than the size of the cache table. Failure to do this could result in inconsistent information for table blocks because too few records were "released".
- Server - Bug Fixes - Fixed a bug that could crash the server if it was trying to open the link on a TCP serial port and the address look-up failed for the specified address.
- Server - Bug Fixes - Fixed a bug in the Linux build where memory could leak each time that a thread was ended. This was happening because the is_started flag was being cleared by the thread entry point. Because of this, the pthread_join() function was never called and the process wound up accumulating memory as threads were started and stopped.
- Server - Bug Fixes - Fixed a bug where, if an exception was thrown when an incoming TCP messaging connection was handled, that exception would wind up crashing the LoggerNet server.
- Server - Bug Fixes - Added code to handle the case when a communication error is reported by another operation in order to ensure that the logger lock was released.
- Server - Bug Fixes - Added code to ensure that any reports associated with a device are removed when that device gets shut down. Failure to do this could lead to a crash if the device was deleted after being shut down
- Server - Bug Fixes - Fixed a bug where, if the callbackTcpPort or the comPortId settings were changed for the TCP serial port device type while it was waiting for a call-back connection, the server would not force the link off-line in order to apply the new setting values.
- Server - Bug Fixes - Added code to ensure that the notification of whether communication is enabled is not sent to the devices unless the communication enabled condition has really changed. This addresses a bug where BMP5 data collection could get stuck if a client set the commEnabled setting (either the device or LgrNet setting) to true when it was already true.
- Server - Bug Fixes - Fixed a bug in the shut down code where the device was removed from the network map structure before its shutdown() method was called. On some networks, this could lead the server to throw an unhandled exception when it was being shut down.
- Server - Bug Fixes - Concentrated the work of authenticating a TCP link in the TCP port provider class rather than allowing the PakBus port object do this. The primary reason for this change is that authentication failed when a connection was being made via call-back. Authentication on a new TCP link will now take place if the tcp-password setting is not empty for the root device object or if it is set for any of that device's children.
- Known Issue - The following LNDB issue affects View Pro and RTMC Pro when using an LNDB database: If LNDB has been running with a SQL Server 2005 database, the timestamps in the tables will be of type DateTime. If you then upgrade to SQL Server 2008 the DateTime data type for the timestamps is carried over to the 2008 database. However, LNDB expects the timestamps to be of type DateTime2 which has a higher precision than DateTime. This type mismatch causes queries to fail. In order to fix this issue, you will need to use the SQL Server management tools to change the data type for the timestamp columns to DateTime2.

- CRBasic Editor Enhancement - The search function now works as follows: If text is highlighted, the user can simply enter F3 or click the Find Next button and the text will be searched for without resorting to the find dialog. The last item searched for will be remembered even if the highlight has been removed. If the highlighted text is changed, the new text will sought after.
- CRBasic Editor Enhancement - Bookmarks are now persistent from one CRBasic session to another. Bookmarks are saved when the file is saved.
- CRBasic Editor Enhancement - Added functionality where the CRBasic Editor watches the hard drive copies of the files currently open in the Editor. If the date changes on one of the files (i.e., someone copies a new file over the existing one), a message is displayed in the Editor notifying the user that the underlying file has been changed and giving the user the option to reload from the underlying file

- Lock TimeStamp Column" which will lock the timestamp column on the left of the data in the grid for all files that have a timestamp. This setting is global for all open tables, and persistent due to being stored in the inifiles.
- View Pro Enhancement - reated a new common axis for the line graph to show up on the right. Assignment of series to the right Y-axis is made using the popup menu accessed by right clicking a selection in the selection panel and clicking "assign to right axis". Single click selection of a series in independent axis mode has been re-instituted. Clicking on a selection will show its y-axis on the side to which it is assigned. Grid lines only appear by default for the left axes.
- View Pro Enhancement - Created a new model for the selection. Selections which are created before a graph has been opened are associated with a universal selection set, denoted in the selected graph combobox by the title "None". This selection set will allow the creation of column, block, and row selections for use in graphs or copy and paste operations. When a new graph is created the selections allowed in that graph type will be moved to the graph and removed from the "None" selection set.

- Network Planner Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where, when the CS I/O ME baud rate setting was generated for an RF401 when that device was attached to a CR10X-PB, the generated baud rate was set to 19200 baud rather than 9600 baud.

- Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a problem with loading an OS to an SDM SIO1.
- Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug for float and double component types where the max and min values were enforced when they were not specified in the description. This enforcement was not a problem for most types because the default max and min values were set to the full range of a given type. However, for floating point values, the min value was being set to the smallest possible positive value for that type rather than being set to the most negative possible value for that type. The result of this bug was that, when the user attempted to set negative values, these would be rejected.
- Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Changed the way that locales are managed so that they no longer depend upon the selected language.
- Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where the application event dispatcher was being deleted before the one shot timer for the application. This could cause an access violation when the timer attempted to dispatch events when there was no dispatcher.
- Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Simplified the regular expression used to check the neighbor lists for the various ports on the NL100. The regular expression used previously would fail the check for when used with "1 5 10-20".
- Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug with string setting components where, if the component value was set directly, the changed flag for that component was not set. This showed up with the CR1000 deployment panel as a failure to set the PakBus/TCP Password setting.
- CoraScript Enhancement - Added a new command, make-xml-network-map, with an associated help section. This command can be used to generate an XML structure that describes the current loggernet network map. This structure will include custom phone modems, server settings, devices, device settings, collect areas, and collect area settings.
- CoraScript Enhancement - Added an optional parameter, --server-time, to the clock-set command that can be used to specify the time to which the datalogger clock should be set
- Data Filer Enhancement - Added the no header format option to the custom collection.
- Server Enhancement - Changed the logon transaction so that the password is no longer sent to the server. This fixes an issue where the password was being sent in clear text.
- Server Enhancement - Added code to tolerate some warnings that can result from trying to determine whether data can be appended to an existing file. If warnings are generated, these will be logged in the transaction log.
- Server Enhancement - Added code that will allow a failure to initialize the TAPI layer to be tolerated. If the tapi layer can not be initialized, all transactions and operations associated with it will now either fail (in the case of dialing) or will return empty lists of tapi lines and/or country codes. This addresses issues that we have encountered with customers being unable to run LoggerNet when the TAPI service is disabled.
- Server Enhancement - Added support for a new LgrNet setting, minConfigRewriteInterval, that controls the minimum interval at which the server will automatically attempt to overwrite its configuration file. The default value for this setting has been set to 15 minutes which is larger by a factor of three from the old interval that was used. These changes address complaints from customers with large networks who had observed that the server would appear to "lock up" for up to thirty seconds while the operation was taking place
- Server Enhancement - Added code to support the new LgrNet Logon Ex transaction. This transaction should be much more secure than the old logon transaction because the password is not transmitted but rather a digest derived from the password and a server generated random number will be sent. This new transaction uses the same features as the CRAM MD5 authentication protocol used with email servers.
- Server Enhancement - Added code to ensure that the sysinifiles directory is backed up when a snapshot is created under the windows version. This will ensure that the taskmaster.ini file as well as other ini files will get backed up and, subsequently, restored.
- Server Enhancement - Implemented an optional parameter for the device clock set command that allows the client to specify the time to which the device clock should be set.
- Server Enhancement - Added support for the CRS450 device type. This device is a CS450 pressure transducer with datalogger capabilities.
- Server Enhancement - Modified the code that records logon attempts in the transaction log so that the IP address of the client is printed along with the application name and user name.
- Server Enhancement - Added support for the three new LgrNet settings: applicationDir, workingDir, and dirSeparator.
- Server Bug fix - Changed the code that checks the input buffer for a full duplex echo operation so that, if bytes are received but none of these matches the first byte of the echo pattern, these bytes will be read from the buffer, thrown away but the watch dog timer for the operation will not be reset. This has the potential to address a "stuttering" effect that can occur on a link with a lot of latency where the responses from previous communication attempts get processed before the expected response is received.
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug associated with serial port support (likely TAPI as well) that could lead to a lock-up.
- Server Bug fix - Added code to ignore the hangup delay setting on the PakBus port when it is connected through a phone link. This is needed because, once the "off-line" message is sent to the connected logger, the logger is free to shut down the link from its side. It does little good for us to try to maintain that link under these circumstances and has actually caused a crashing/lockup problem.
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug with the XPB (used with CR10X-PB, CR23X-PB, and CR510-PB loggers) implementation of the program file send transaction where the logger transaction timeout was not cleared after receiving a response to a previous send command. If there was a delay in sending the next command, the transaction could time out.
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug where, if communications for an RF-TD base became disabled while a send network description operation was active, that operation would not get removed from the base. The result of this bug was that no new network description could be sent thereafter to the RFbase until the loggernet server was shut down.
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug with the BMP1 send network description operation where, if the operation is interrupted because of max time on-line expiration, the operation reference kept by the RF base device object was not cleared. This prevented any future attempts to send the network description for that device.
- Server Bug fix - Changed the server build script for Linux so that the 64 bit file offsets will be used by the run time library rather than the default of 32 bit file offsets.
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a potential bug that could occur if a check for duplicate records was posted but then abandoned by its client (the particular case being addressed was data collection), That check would not get removed from the queue of other checks and, as a result, all new records processing would get stuck for this collect area.
- Server Bug fix - Added a state to the BMP1 data polling operation to recognize when we are waiting for a check on the newest record. Also added code in the BMP1 message handler that will prevent us from processing an incoming message when we are not in a state where we are looking for that message.
- Server Bug fix - Added virtual methods to the base PakBus node class that can be called when messages are sent to start or end a PakBus session. These methods have been overloaded in class Bmp5::Datalogger to ensure that the clock schedule is honored. This addresses a problem that has been observed with various Fat Spaniel customers that can result in their station times being reported as off.
- Server Bug fix - Added a new timeout for BMP1 transactions. The timer for this condition starts when a message is posted for a BMP1 transaction to send. It will get cleared when the router is ready to send that message and it will get reset when any other transaction has a chance to send a message. The purpose of this timer is to guard against the rather rare cases where the RF-TD base can get stuck in a mode where it does not ever raise its RxRdy bit.
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a problem in the base class that implements the PakBus serial packet protocol where, if communications became disabled, all links were immediately abandoned with no attempt to send "off-line" serial packet messages. On most link types, this was relatively harmless. However, on RF95 type links, this could lead to problems because the datalogger would not drop the CS I/O ME line so the subsequent attempt to "undial" the link was doomed to fail.
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug where the hangup delay setting was not honoured for the PakBus/TCP server device type.
- Server Bug fix - Added an optimization to the code that generates the parts of the configuration XML structure associated with device and collect area settings. The SettingCollection class as well as the Setting class will now cache the XML structure when the settings are read or are generated for the first time. From that time forward, the only parts of the structure that have to be changed are the parts associated with settings that have changed. This has the potential to address a problem where it was taking upwards of 2 minutes to generate the XML structure.
- Server Bug fix - Added a optimization with the statistics collections used by devices. Previously, the statistics table name was generated each time that it was needed from the device name and the statistics type name. This could represent a significant CPU load each time that statistics needed to be updated.
- Server Bug fix - Added code to the operation in the cache thread that checks for the uniqueness of "new" records received from BMP1 and PakBus dataloggers that will catch any exception thrown during that operation and ensure that the "client" collect area gets the notification that the check is complete. Also added code in this event to post a failure message in the comms logs since otherwise, the error could slip by unnoticed. This may have been the cause of some lockups.
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug where, if a session was closed on which a clock set transaction was waiting (not yet active), that transaction would not get deleted. The result of this was that, when the clock set was complete, the server would attempt to report the outcome for a transaction and session that was no longer valid. This could lead to a crash
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug associated with restoring device and collect area settings where, if a setting was not stored in the configuration file when the network map was restored, the cached_xml reference for that setting would not be set when the setting needed to be written. The result of this bug was that, under some conditions, attempts to save the network map would fail.
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug in the CoraServer destructor that would throw an exception resulting in a Linux segment violation when the server was not startable (this was due to a file write permissions error in one test case but can also be due to exceeding file system quotas).
- Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug where automated clock check/sets were not working for NTCIP-ESS type devices.
- Server Bug fix - Added code in the link failure event handler for the root level device class (serial ports, TCP serial ports, etc.) to avoid calling on_link_failure() or changing the line state if an open is pending. This code was already setting a one second timer following which it would report an open failure (this delay was to avoid resource exhaustion that could occur under some race conditions). If another request was made while the delay was pending, that second open attempt could get prematurely clobbered when the timed failure event was handled.
