Geotechnical and Structural Instrumentation, Monitoring, and Information Engineering is a course designed to provide a comprehensive overview of geotechnical and structural instrumentation and monitoring (IM), from fundamental principles to state of the art applications in civil, construction, mining, pipeline/utilities, and oil and gas. Participants will gain understanding in current and emerging IM types and applications, data collection and management systems, and monitoring program planning. Building upon this foundation, the course teaches concepts in information engineering, such as information visualization, the use of monitoring in risk management and asset management, and how monitoring data can be used to update estimates of reliability. The course format includes instruction from university and industry experts, interactive learning, workshop activities, vendor demonstrations, and plenty of discussion time.
