Chicago Infrastructure/Geotechnical Instrumentation Workshop

The intro to geotechnical and infrastructure instrumentation workshop is a great jumping in point for new users or a refresh for beginner users to solidify ideas. The training emphasizes applications and sensors for the geotechnical and structural monitoring markets.

Class participants will program the CR6 datalogger to make automated measurements on several types of sensors used in geotechnical and structural monitoring applications. This training is also applicable to most other Campbell Scientific dataloggers.

Class size is limited to ensure personalized instruction and assistance. Hands-on programming exercises and course handouts are used to reinforce the concepts covered by the instructors.

Campbell Scientific will provide use of a CR6 datalogger, sensors and other peripherals for the workshop. Participants will need a laptop or windows-based tablet with a working copy of LoggerNet installed (a one-time trail is available for download on our website). Lunch will be provided. A brief outline of what will be covered is listed below:

  • Automated data-acquisition overview
  • Datalogger introduction and specifications
  • Sensors and sensor output types
  • ShortCut program generator
  • Create and test programs for thermocouples, thermistors and strain gauges
  • Vibrating wire history and overview
  • Remote communication options
  • LoggerNet software

Please sign up and join the wait list if the course is full. Please reach out if you have any questions.
