Webinar - Resource Assessment and Forecasting Techniques: Subtleties of Solar Input

This webinar is organized by the ASES Resource Application Division.

Webinar Abstract:

There is uncertainty in the satellite and the National Solar Radiation Data Base data derived Irradiance estimates, and this data is not acceptable for projecting utility scale pre-construction phase cash flow. Furthermore this data cannot be used to accurately forecast power production once the power plant has been installed. Quality ground based site-specific irradiance measurements stations are a critical component of utility scale solar power plants for both Resource Assessment & Forecasting purposes.

This Webinar/Q&A session will summarizing Irradiance measurement techniques for solar power plants including both flat panel PV and Concentrated Solar Technology systems.

1:00 PM MST Justin Robinson--Summary and Introduction
1:10 PM MST Jan Kleissl--Solar Forecasting Techniques
1:25 PM MST Frank Vignola--Irradiance Measurements for PV Systems
1:40 PM MST Daryl Myers--Concentrating Solar Systems Radiation Resources Measurements, Data, and Uncertainty
