SIRWEC exists to encourage meteorologists, weather forecasters, highway engineers, road masters and others, who are interested in road weather problems, to exchange ideas to make our roads safer to drive on in all weather conditions.

You are invited to attend the 2016 SIRWEC Conference. It will include presentations and posters giving the latest findings on road weather issues from around the world. You are also invited to submit an abstract for the Conference. Topics that are suitable for abstracts include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Studies on benefits of combining road focused weather forecasts with highway operations, including winter service operations
• Policy and management for winter maintenance and weather services
• Performance measures, Standards, and Level of Service
• Cost Benefit of Winter Maintenance Activities
• Use of road weather systems to enhance resilience under severe and/or changing weather regimes
• Modeling and forecasting for surface transportation and weather
• Dissemination of weather, traffic and operations information
• Road weather and surface condition data collection
• Connected/Automated Vehicles - Vehicle based technology
• Sustainability and livability issues pertaining to road weather activities
• The role of decision support systems in road weather and highway operations
