Inline Surge Protection Device for Data Logger Protection on Digital Sensor Lines with Five-Pin Plug-to-Socket Shielded M12 Connections

Model:
ISP11
Item Number:
44754
Warranty:
5 years

Overview

The ISP11 is a surge protection device for Modbus RTU communications and power lines at the meteorological (met) station side. The device is intended to connect to the main met side of the cables, providing a greater level of protection for the data logger.

The ISP11 uses components and a layout that are identical to the ISP10, providing protection that meets the IEC 61000-4-5, level 4 (4 kV, 2000 A) surge protection standard. The five-pin M12 connectors are configured to match the SunSentry system's trunk-line cable pinout, which is compatible with the RS485CBL Five-Conductor Cable with M12 Five-Pin A-Coded Connector. The cable shield is passed through the M12 connector to facilitate shield grounding at the main met station.

Technical Description

The ISP11 uses a standard A-coded, five-pin M12 connector with shield termination to ground via the mounting hole. This device connects to the main met station and mates with any of the RS485CBL cables.

A hole in the middle of the ISP11 is used for grounding and mounting with the included #10 screw. For proper surge protection, mount the ISP11 to an earth-grounded, conductive part.

The ISP11 is shipped with the following items:

  • #17 high-speed steel drill bit for pilot hole required for the self-tapping screw
  • Self-tapping screw (#10-32 x 1 410SS hex washer head thread cutting screw)
  • 5 cc packet protective oxide-inhibitor grease
