Overview
The CMP11 legacy pyranometer, manufactured by Kipp & Zonen, is an ISO secondary-standard pyranometer that monitors solar radiation for the full solar spectrum range. It connects directly to a Campbell Scientific data logger and is well-suited for meteorological networks and solar-energy research and development. In solar-energy meteorological stations, the CMP11 has been replaced by the CMP10.
Key Advantages
Double glass dome
Technical Description
The CMP11 measures solar radiation with a high-quality blackened thermopile protected by two glass domes. Its flat spectral sensitivity, from 285 to 2800 nm, makes it ideal for applications in natural sunlight, under plant canopies, in green houses or buildings, and inverted to measure reflected solar radiation.
A desiccant-filled drying cartridge prevents dew from forming on the inner sides of the CMP11's domes. Campbell Scientific also offers the CVF4 heater/ventilator that keeps its domes free from ice and dew.
The CMP11 includes a white snap-on sun shield that reduces the sensor's temperature. A bubble level and adjusting leveling screws enable the sensor to be leveled without using a leveling base.
The CMP11 produces a millivolt signal that is measured directly by a Campbell Scientific data logger.
Benefits
- Detector design and faster response make it a step above the CMP6
- Compatible with most Campbell Scientific data loggers
- Integrated bubble level is visible without removing sun shield
- Desiccant-filled drying cartridge prevents dew from forming on the inner sides of the domes
- Compatible with the CVF4 heater/ventilator that keeps the domes free from ice and dew
- Measures reflected solar radiation when inverted
- Provides measurements in direct sunlight, under plant canopies, when the sky is cloudy, and in artificial light

Common Accessories
(6)CM255
Solar Adjustable-Angle Mounting Stand
The CM255 is used for mounting the CMP3-L at an angle.
OrderableCM256
Adjustable Plane and Angle Solar Mounting Stand
The CM256 adjustable-angle, adjustable-plane mounting stand further simplifies the accurate and precise mounting of a pyranometer, ventilation unit, shadowband radiometer, or reference cell. Several pyranometer mounting stands have been combined and simplified to make ordering easier and usability friendlier. The CM256 is a combination of the CM255LS pyranometer mount, CM245 reference cell and shadowband mount, 31394 VU01 mount, and 31153 CVF4 mount. In addition, several new sensors are now fully supported such as the SPN1, MS-80(M), SR30, SR05, and IMT reference cell CM325.
OrderableCVF4
Ventilation Unit for Pyranometers
The CVF4-L is a ventilator/heater for our CMP11 pyranometer. The ventilation unit improves the reliability and accuracy of the measurement by reducing dust, raindrops, and dew on the dome. The integrated heater can be used to disperse precipitation and melt frost, or even melt snow and ice in cold climates.
OrderableCM261
Single-Axis Tracker Mounting Stand
One CM261 is needed per CVF4-L. The CM261 single-axis tracker pyranometer mount with adjustable plane simplifies the mounting of any pyranometer, ventilation unit, reference cell, or SPN1 to octagonal, round, and square single-axis torque tubes. The CM261 is a combination and simplification of the CM260 and CM265 to make ordering easier and usability friendlier. The bracket includes provisions for mounting the sensors and ventilation units at different heights, allowing the sensing element to be mounted at the same height as the solar modules.
OrderableCMB200
Crossarm Brace Kit
The CMB200 Crossarm Brace Kit is designed to provide additional stability when using a crossarm mounted on Campbell Scientific tripods and towers. This kit provides support for crossarms with heavier or sensitive sensor loads, as well as added stability in higher winds. Each kit includes one brace arm and three sets of mounting brackets.
Orderable39112
DIN Rail Terminal Kit with 1 Terminal and 3 Wires
The 39112 provides the needed DIN rail terminals, separator, and wires to connect any product to a data logger or other peripheral that requires three wires for connection. This kit provides the following wires: black, white, and clear. The color-coding of these wires matches the wire coloring of the product for ease in connection, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Compatibility
Mounting
The CMP11 has a bubble level and two leveling feet, which allow it to be leveled without using a leveling base. This pyranometer mounts to a mast, crossarm, or pole (1.0 in. to 2.1 in. OD) via the CM255 or CM255LS mounting stand. The CMP11 should be mounted away from all obstructions and reflective surfaces that might adversely affect the measurement.
