  • PC400 is now Campbell Scientific's free entry-level datalogger support software.
  • One of the main efforts in the development of PC400 4.7 has been support for the new GRANITE Data Logger Modules and the new CR350 datalogger. (Note that in the main PC400 interface, the CR350 is considered a CR300Series datalogger. However, in Device Configuration Utility, Short Cut, and the CRBasic Editor, it is a separate device.)
  • In addition, a Neighbor PakBus Address field has been added to the Datalogger Settings screen in the EZSetup Wizard. This allows you to specify the neighbor you will go through to connect to your datalogger. For example, this can be used to enter the PakBus address of a Konect PakBus router.
  • Also, a TCP Password field has been added to the Security Settings screen in the EZSetup Wizard to control IP access to a datalogger.
  • A Software Updater has been added to PC400 and Device Configuration Utility that will automatically notify you when a new release is available. New Version will appear in the menu bar when PC400 or Device Configuration is opened. Click New Version to display the new version available. Click on the new version to be taken to the Software Updater and update your software.
  • Users of Campbell Scientific's LNDB database software who are using a PostgreSQL or Oracle database can now access the data directly from the database with View Pro. In addition, View Pro now allows you to set graphs to start maximized, set default settings for all new line graphs, and jump to the beginning or end of a line graph.

  • Added support for the CR1000X datalogger.
  • PC400 Server - The underlying encryption library has changed from axTLS to mbedTLS.
  • PC400 Server - Added support for the new Device Collect Area Rename transaction. The server interface version has been incremented to 1.12.04 to report this.
  • PC400 Server - Added code to save and restore the reported station name for PakBus dataloggers. Also added code to clear the flag that indicates that we are polling for datalogger info when such an operation is closed down. This addresses an issue where the station name written to new data file headers was an empty string if the first attempt to get compile results after starting the server failed.
  • PC400 Server - Fixed a bug where the overloaded versions of on_callback_wait_end() were not called because the signature of the method was changed. This manifested itself as a problem handling call-back with a phone modem connection, where the connection was established and abandoned after a two-minute interval because the modem's callback ring timer was never cleared.
  • PC400 Server - Fixed a bug for BMP5 dataloggers where an access violation could occur when testing to see if a closing operation was a get compile results op.
  • PC400 Server - Changed the BMP5 file synch operation so the directory request will include a wild card if there is no given file specification. This addresses a problem with recent datalogger operating systems where the datalogger fails to enumerate the files if no colon or pattern was given.
  • PC400 Server - Changed the various error counters mapped from the status table to signed integers and set their default value to -1 to indicate that the value is unknown. Also set the process string for this to a value of "error_counter" in order for the status monitor to be able to apply special formatting for these that will leave negative values as blank.
  • PC400 Server - Changed the statistic that maps the datalogger lithium battery voltage so that this is initialized to a value of NaN and changed the process string of these to "battery_voltage" so that the status monitor can leave NaN values as blank and not be inclined to format these values with three fixed decimal digits.
  • PC400 Server - Added the ability to register string values in the statistics table and created a status table map for the CR300's new LithiumBattery value which gets reported as a string rather than a floating point voltage value.
  • PC400 Server - Changed the description for the CR300 "LithiumBattery" statistic to "Lith Batt Volt".
  • PC400 Server - Added support for the new defaultScheduleEnabledExpr setting for PakBus dataloggers.
  • PC400 Server - Added code to the challenge/responder component used for authenticating PakBus/TCP links with a PakBus/TCP password so the delayed start timer is shut down when invalid authentication data has been received from the datalogger before starting the challenge. Failure to do this was causing a crash when the delayed start event was processed and the authenticator was no longer in a state to do anything.
  • PC400 Server - Fixed a bug in the file synch poll operation where the client acknowledgement was sent after the polling process was notified. That order could result in the operation being deleted when trying to send the client acknowledgement and lead to an attempt to access released storage.
  • PC400 Server - Added code to the timed method for PakBus routers that periodically checks the validity of the current transaction focus so if there is no route available for that transaction, the transaction will be considered invalid, an error (unreachable) will be reported, and the current focus cleared.
  • PC400 Server - Implemented a new collect mode, backfill by interval, for the BMP5, BMP3, and BMP1 versions of the logger query transaction. The server interface version has been set to 1.12.06 to reflect this support.
  • PC400 Server - Changed code that was recently introduced in the PakBus router that will invalidate transactions if there is no router to carry them out so that this rule will not be applied to hello transactions.
  • PC400 Server - Changed the code that handles the case where the datalogger reports that the file is inaccessible or the name is invalid so that the file is removed from the get queue and is also removed from the files history. This will allow us to "rediscover" the file on a future poll if the file really is inaccessible. This addresses an issue where it would appear that the datalogger was removing the file between the time that we got the directory and the time we started asking for the file. In this case, the file name would get stuck in the get queue and we would ask for it over and over without giving up.
  • CRBasic Editor - Added support for the "Double" type on variables. This includes highlighting and lists.
  • CRBasic Editor - Added a compile menu option for conditional compiling so that Include files are compiled into the code and displayed in a new window. This uses the -i command line instead of the -p option.
  • CRBasic Editor - Added a search box in the Instruction Panel.
  • CRBasic Editor - Fixed a range check error that could occur if you add a subroutine name and there was not already a name there.
  • CRBasic Editor - Modified the Editor to mark the menu item when the Display on Startup selection is made.
  • CRBasic Editor - Fixed a problem that was changing syntax highlighting when text was selected.
  • CRBasic Editor - Several changes were made to improve how .dld files are loaded. This also fixes a related timing bug where the Editor would load the last program used in front of a program that was opened by ShortCut.
  • CRBasic Editor - Fixed a problem finding the closing "}".
  • CRBasic Editor - Fixed a problem when using the F2 key that gave a range check error and unexpectedly launched the help.
  • CRBasic Editor - Modified the Editor to move the cursor to the end of the line when the comment continuation functionality is used.
  • CRBasic Editor - When a recent file does not exist, the error message will now indicate the file does not exist.
  • CRBasic Editor - The Editor is now forced to the foreground when you open a CRBasic file using Windows Explorer.
  • CRBasic Editor - Fixed #IF family of instructions. The # symbol and #IFDEF will now highlight properly
  • CRBasic Editor - Fixed an issue where the Find dialog would not be visible because it was displayed offscreen.
  • CRBasic Editor - Fixed an issue that prevented the Program Send dialog from retrying server connections.
  • CRBasic Editor - Increased the buffer space for paths.
  • CRBasic Editor - Changed all extensions on temporary files from '.xxx' to '.tmp'. The former can trigger a response from anti-virus software.
  • CRBasic Editor - Improved the error message when precompile does not run properly. Also improved it to use standard load if the compile result file will not load as UTF8. This helps when some Asian characters sets are used.
  • Device Configuration Utility - Added the ability to modify the CS240DM.
  • Device Configuration Utility - Added the ability to modify the CH201.
  • Device Configuration Utility - Added the ability to modify the CR300-CELL200 and CR310-CELL200 datalogger.
  • Device Configuration Utility - Added the ability to modify the CS475A radar level sensor.
  • Device Configuration Utility - Added the ability to modify the NL241 Wi-Fi network link interface.
  • Device Configuration Utility - Added a new “Data Collection” panel to allow downloading of data from dataloggers in the field.
  • Device Configuration Utility - Added USB drivers (RNDIS) for the CR6-series datalogger.
  • Device Configuration Utility - Added “Radio Enable” setting to the deployment panel for the CR6- and CR300-series dataloggers with internal radios.
  • Short Cut - Redesigned the user experience and GUI interface.
  • Short Cut - Fixed when Alias is called on an existing array. It now updates the index along with the name. When searching for the Alias associated with a CRBasic array element, now does not return the Alias (name, object, or units) if the Alias is disabled.
  • Short Cut - Modified the program to prevent ground wires from being moved from G terminal to Ground terminal and prevent Ground wires from being moved to G terminal. With preferred grounds, all grounds are in a common group.
  • Short Cut - Fixed an issue where the input location ID was showing up for CRBasic type of dataloggers in the summary for labels created by used defined expressions.
  • Short Cut - Added a custom check to look for and prevent SDI-12 and Pulse channels on channel pairs for the CR6. Also on the control ports for the CR1000X. These are not allowed but are outside the normal rules for channel pairs .
  • Short Cut - Modified to allow multiple decimal chars when editing a string field (like an IP address).
  • Short Cut - Enhanced to allow manual setting of high resolution for long data type.
  • Short Cut - Added new functionality: when loading a saved program, add any new channel types that are found in the DLF file. For example, switchclosure channels were added to the CR6. This was needed as we learned that switch closure connections on control ports are different than on U terminals (U terminal switch to ground and C port switch to 5V). So a new switchclosure channel type was added, and the C ports were removed from the pulse channel type. Caveats: Using the C ports requires a U port to be configured as a 5V source, as the CR6 has no 5V terminal. Since the C ports are only used when the U terminals are full, the user probably will not have one available. Also, when a saved program is loaded, the old pulse channel definitions are still used, so they will continue to be allocated and will not work. This will not be addressed as it is very unlikely to occur. The work-around is to start a new Short Cut program. We also added a new channel type of SDI-12 to the CRx000 and CR10X family of loggers. This is so the data connection could be moved instead of being on a fixed port. This required updated sensor files and datalogger files. This will allow updated datalogger and sensor files to work with new channel types.
  • Short Cut - Fixed an issue when making the working directory save work.
  • Short Cut - Modified the set buffer parameter of Scan instruction for some dataloggers with sub-second scans.
  • Short Cut - Fixed RepBlockArray aliases to have the current units if the user has edited the units since an alias was created.
  • Short Cut - Fixed server login. Login will not be reattempted multiple times, only when the program is sent from Short Cut.
  • Short Cut - Increased the font size by 2 for the wiring diagram visual and text display.
v4.4.2September 21, 2016
Download unavailable
  • Short Cut Bug Fix - Fixed a problem for the CR300-series datalogger where 12V power ground was shown wired to a signal ground (the ground symbol) instead of a power ground (G) terminal. This could affect single-ended measurements, if current flowing on the return was large enough.
  • Short Cut Bug Fix - Changed ground connection for several SDI-12 sensors to allow the signal wire to be moved.
  • Short Cut Bug Fix - Fixed a problem where bridge strain measurements on multiplexers (for example, the AM16/32) had the excitation voltage set to zero.
  • DevConfig Enhancement - Updated CR300 series support including the new CR310 with the various radio and WIFI versions for the CR300 and CR310.
  • DevConfig Enhancement - Added additional radio options for the CR6.

  • CRBasic Editor Enhancement - Added support for the -u precompiler command line option which checks for unused variables and subroutines.
  • CRBasic Editor Enhancement - Made some changes that allow a DLD file to be automatically associated with a datalogger extension on open. CRBasic determines the datalogger extension based on the "meta" information found on the first line of the program.
  • CRBasic Editor Enhancement - Added a checkbox in the Font selection dialog that allows the user to filter monospaced fonts.
  • CRBasic Editor Bug Fix - Fixed a problem where an instruction on the same line as an if statement would not work properly with the right click menu to edit instruction.
  • CRBasic Editor Bug Fix - Fixed a bug so that opening files with bookmarks does not 'modify' the program and thus prompt for a save if nothing else is changed.
  • CRBasic Editor Bug Fix - Added code that allows us to force an insert instead of an overwrite in certain cases (e.g., the tab key is pressed in overwrite mode). This behavior is consistent with other mainstream editors.
  • CRBasic Editor Bug Fix - Fixed an issue where an Undo would not restore characters that had been overwritten.
  • CRBasic Editor Bug Fix - Limited menu item captions of functions/subroutines to 120 characters.
  • CRBasic Editor Bug Fix - Reworked Find/Replace/Replace All code to solve problems with "match whole word only".
  • CRBasic Editor Bug Fix - Fixed some Replace Variable (F10) and picklist issues that affected single and multi-line instructions.
  • Device Configuration Utility Enhancement - Added support for the CR300, A100, RF451, CR6-WIFI, CR6-RF451, RF407, SDM-SIO1A, SDM-SIO4A, SoilProf3, TX321, and CDM-A100 Series.
  • Device Configuration Utility Enhancement - Changed the settings editor panel so that a search control is used to help locate settings rather than the combo box previously used.
  • Device Configuration Utility Enhancement - Changed the datalogger restore wizard by adding a page that will allow the user to select the files that will be restored.
  • Device Configuration Utility Enhancement - Added a search control immediately above the device types list. This control will allow the user to restrict the devices shown to those whose description matches a subset of what the user typed.
  • Device Configuration Utility Enhancement - Added support for a fixed 76800 baud rate on all CR1000, CR8xx, CR3000, and CR6 serial ports.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the serial number view for the CD295 where the apply button had no effect because of the code that checked for needing to commit did not recognize when the serial number had changed.
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a problem in the base class for classic datalogger commands where, if the command failed because of an invalid echo and the server immediately started on another command (say an failed "F" command followed by a "G" command), there server would make no attempt to resynchronize the link with the datalogger. This would end up sending the characters for the subsequent command as if they were a part of the preceding command.
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the interpretation of the classic logger ports byte reported through the K command where the code was using a multiply operator rather than a mask operator when picking out the value for the fourth port. The result of this error was that the fourth port would be reported high if any other port was high.
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug, introduced in LN 4.3, where retries were no longer enabled for the classic datalogger position modem pointer (G) command.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added code in the BMP5 file synch operation to use a colon to separate the file spec from the drive when it is specified when requesting a directory from the datalogger. This addresses a problem where the datalogger was returning an empty file set when the drive and file name pattern were both specified.
  • Server Bug Fix - Changed the BMP5 implementation of the hole collect operation so that, if the response sent by the datalogger is outside the range expected by the computer, all pending holes will be considered lost and no new holes will be added. Previously, the server was assuming that the entire table could be collected as hole and the end result was that the server could get stuck in a loop where the same records were being collected over and over.

  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - The AL200 Slot Offset setting will now be interpreted as an unsigned four byte integer rather than as an unsigned two byte integer.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the settings editor panel where a poll attempt could take place after a session failure. This could lead to a crash due to an unhandled exception.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Made the code that checks the length of the telnet password conditional on that setting being reported. This addresses an issue where a special version of the OS didn't support the deployment panel.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Added code in the handler for command completion that will check to make sure that the transaction queue is not empty before handling the command outcome. This addresses a bug that could lead to a crash when power was pulled on the TX320 while polling transactions were under way.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where the NL2xx deployment panel was attempting to unconditionally poll the IPv6 address regardless of whether the device reported the setting. This could lead to an unhandled exception when connecting to an NL200 with an older OS.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Added code to stop automatic updates of settings such as IPv6 status when settings are changed in the NL2xx deployment panel.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where the settings manager component was returning true to the query of whether settings needed to be committed when there was a cancel or commit operation under way. The result was that DevConfig would post a modal dialogue confirming close if the user tried to close the application while a cancel or commit operation was under way and could result in an unhandled exception.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the RF430 deployment where, when settings were loaded from the radio, the radio address control was initialized with the value of the network address.
  • Server Enhancement - Added support for the CRVW and CRS500 datalogger types.
  • Server Enhancement - Added code in the serial port thread so that, if the simplified I/O is enabled, the thread will use a timer that will get reset whenever data is transmitted or received. If this timer expires, the thread will call SetCommState() in an attempt to force communication over a USB serial port in order to test if the driver connection is still valid.
  • Server Enhancement - Added support for an optional parameter to the device files enumerate command message that will allow the client to specify a pattern that will be used by BMP5 dataloggers to restrict the set of files that are reported.
  • Server Enhancement - Implemented the device force link off line transaction.
  • Server Enhancement - Changed the BMP5 implementation of the device set variable transaction so that it recognizes when the datalogger sends the response code indicating that it needs to reboot. The server will now shut down the link and wait for the specified amount of time before reporting the outcome and launching the poll.
  • Server Enhancement - Added a new coralib function, cora_on_device_change(), that can be called to inform the server that a potential device remove device has been detected. Added code in the serial port class and its associated provider that will conduct a test to determine whether the serial port handle is still valid as a result of that method. Doing this gives the server a chance to detect USB serial port failures more reliably.
  • Server Bug Fix - Changed the BMP1 operation/transaction relation so that the on_message_being_sent() operation method has the ability to prevent the message from being sent by its return value. This should prevent the BMP5 tunnel carrier operation from sending an empty message when the router has nothing to send.
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the code that unregisters a static route where we could use the wrong address to access the child list under certain configurations. This resulted in an unhandled exception that forced the server to reset.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added an optional flag to the device startUp() method so that setting changed flags will be cleared only if that flag is set. Changed the rename and move network map modifiers so that this flag is not set when the newly renamed or moved devices are started. This will allow any pending changes to be written when the device configuration is written.
v4.2October 7, 2013

  • Known Issues - When using LogTool to zip all log files and certain file errors occur, the operation may still be reported as successful. For example, If LoggerNet is running as a service and an attempt is made zip all log files and store them in the root directory of a mapped network drive, a failure will probably occur as the service cannot access mapped drives but the operation is reported as successful.
  • PC400 Enhancements - Added ability to use MD9 connection with a PakBus datalogger.
  • PC400 Enhancements - Added PakBus Encryption Key setting to the CR1000/CR3000/CR800 Series.

  • PC400 Bug Fix - Fixed a bug when dealing with very large records.
  • Short Cut Enhancement - Added a cache of the sensor files to speed loading.
  • Short Cut Enhancement - Added Datalogger Step that combines the datalogger selection, scan rate selection, and CR9000X card selection.
  • Short Cut Enhancement - When adding a sensor, if more than one of the selected sensor can be added, the choice of how many sensors to add is included as part of the sensor’s form rather than as a separate dialog box
  • Short Cut Enhancement - When adding more than one sensor, a dialog box is available that allows you to input unique values for certain calibration and/or conversion factors (e.g., multiplier, offset, gage factor) for each sensor being measured.
  • Short Cut Enhancement - Each sensor form now includes a wiring tab that shows the wiring for the sensor. This tab allows you to manually change the wiring location, if desired.

  • Server Enhancement - Changed the behavior of the BMP5 file control command so that, if the original command specified that the data should be left in the datalogger tables, the server will preserve the data in its own cache table as well. This should provide a means to change the program without losing data from the cache.
  • Server Enhancement - Changed the parent/child configuration rules to allow a PakBusPortHD device type to be added as a child to an MD9 Passive device type.
  • Server Enhancement - Added IPv6 support.
  • Server Enhancement - Changed the code that parses table names, column names, unit strings, and process strings for BMP3 and BMP5 dataloggers so that these strings are assumed to be encoded as utf-8 rather than using the local code page. If these strings fail to convert as UTF-8, the local code page will be used to convert the strings to Unicode.
  • Server Enhancement - Added a timer to delay the automatic retrieval of table definitions by fifteen seconds
  • Server Enhancement - Added support for the new option for the server to send the "extended" version of the data broker data advise start acknowledgement message. This extended version allows whole arrays to be described with one entry instead of an entry for each array element. This is to support increased efficiency when dealing with large data records.
  • Server Enhancement - Added support for PakBus Encryption (AES-128).
  • Server Enhancement - Changed the device file enumeration transaction so that it can send a longFileSize attribute as well as a fileSize attribute. This change was made to support large (> 2 GB) file system capacities on the datalogger.
  • Server Enhancement - Added a code in the device file control transaction implementation to deal with the new compile, pause, and mark tables as full control option that is available for the CR1000 and cousins. This is a mechanism to allow recovery of data that has been lost on the datalogger after a power loss (the user forgot to set the run on power up bit) or after the user inadvertently sent a program to the datalogger.

  • Server Enhancement - Extended the time that the PakBus/TCP Server will wait on a new connection before hanging it up from five seconds to forty seconds. Also added code so that this device will broadcast a hello request on new connections if no activity has occurred within five seconds of the initial connection.
  • Server Enhancement - Added a transaction log message that gets posted each time that the next time to poll gets calculated.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added code for the BMP1 table poll operation that will prevent the server from sending a hole collection command to the datalogger that is larger than the logger can handle. (This was already being done for the hole collection operation but was not for the table polling version.)
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug that could crash the server when multiple set value commands were queued for a mixed-array datalogger while the datalogger was in an off-line state. This could set up the conditions where an infinite recursion took place until the program stack was exhausted and the server crashed.
  • Server Bug Fix - Modified the code in the cache manager thread that adds records for a table so that older records will be eliminated if a set of records is larger than the size of the cache table. Failure to do this could result in inconsistent information for table blocks because too few records were "released".
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug that could crash the server if it was trying to open the link on a TCP serial port and the address look-up failed for the specified address.
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where, if an exception was thrown when an incoming TCP messaging connection was handled, that exception would wind up crashing the LoggerNet server.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added code to handle the case when a communication error is reported by another operation in order to ensure that the logger lock was released.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added code to ensure that any reports associated with a device are removed when that device gets shut down. Failure to do this could lead to a crash if the device was deleted after being shut down
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the shut down code where the device was removed from the network map structure before its shutdown() method was called. On some networks, this could lead the server to throw an unhandled exception when it was being shut down.

  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a problem with loading an OS to an SDM SIO1.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug for float and double component types where the max and min values were enforced when they were not specified in the description. This enforcement was not a problem for most types because the default max and min values were set to the full range of a given type. However, for floating point values, the min value was being set to the smallest possible positive value for that type rather than being set to the most negative possible value for that type. The result of this bug was that, when the user attempted to set negative values, these would be rejected.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Changed the way that locales are managed so that they no longer depend upon the selected language.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Fixed a bug where the application event dispatcher was being deleted before the one shot timer for the application. This could cause an access violation when the timer attempted to dispatch events when there was no dispatcher.
  • Device Configuration Utility Bug Fix - Simplified the regular expression used to check the neighbor lists for the various ports on the NL100. The regular expression used previously would fail the check for when used with "1 5 10-20".

  • Server Enhancement - Added code to tolerate some warnings that can result from trying to determine whether data can be appended to an existing file. If warnings are generated, these will be logged in the transaction log.
  • Server Enhancement - Added code that will allow a failure to initialize the TAPI layer to be tolerated. If the tapi layer can not be initialized, all transactions and operations associated with it will now either fail (in the case of dialing) or will return empty lists of tapi lines and/or country codes. This addresses issues that we have encountered with customers being unable to run LoggerNet when the TAPI service is disabled.
  • Server Enhancement - Added support for a new LgrNet setting, minConfigRewriteInterval, that controls the minimum interval at which the server will automatically attempt to overwrite its configuration file. The default value for this setting has been set to 15 minutes which is larger by a factor of three from the old interval that was used. These changes address complaints from customers with large networks who had observed that the server would appear to "lock up" for up to thirty seconds while the operation was taking place
  • Server Enhancement - Added code to support the new LgrNet Logon Ex transaction. This transaction should be much more secure than the old logon transaction because the password is not transmitted but rather a digest derived from the password and a server generated random number will be sent. This new transaction uses the same features as the CRAM MD5 authentication protocol used with email servers.
  • Server Enhancement - Added code to ensure that the sysinifiles directory is backed up when a snapshot is created under the windows version. This will ensure that the taskmaster.ini file as well as other ini files will get backed up and, subsequently, restored.
  • Server Enhancement - Implemented an optional parameter for the device clock set command that allows the client to specify the time to which the device clock should be set.
  • Server Enhancement - Added support for the CRS450 device type. This device is a CS450 pressure transducer with datalogger capabilities.
  • Server Enhancement - Modified the code that records logon attempts in the transaction log so that the IP address of the client is printed along with the application name and user name.
  • Server Enhancement - Added support for the three new LgrNet settings: applicationDir, workingDir, and dirSeparator.
  • Server Bug fix - Changed the code that checks the input buffer for a full duplex echo operation so that, if bytes are received but none of these matches the first byte of the echo pattern, these bytes will be read from the buffer, thrown away but the watch dog timer for the operation will not be reset. This has the potential to address a "stuttering" effect that can occur on a link with a lot of latency where the responses from previous communication attempts get processed before the expected response is received.
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug associated with serial port support (likely TAPI as well) that could lead to a lock-up.
  • Server Bug fix - Added code to ignore the hangup delay setting on the PakBus port when it is connected through a phone link. This is needed because, once the "off-line" message is sent to the connected logger, the logger is free to shut down the link from its side. It does little good for us to try to maintain that link under these circumstances and has actually caused a crashing/lockup problem.
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug with the XPB (used with CR10X-PB, CR23X-PB, and CR510-PB loggers) implementation of the program file send transaction where the logger transaction timeout was not cleared after receiving a response to a previous send command. If there was a delay in sending the next command, the transaction could time out.
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug where, if communications for an RF-TD base became disabled while a send network description operation was active, that operation would not get removed from the base. The result of this bug was that no new network description could be sent thereafter to the RFbase until the loggernet server was shut down.
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug with the BMP1 send network description operation where, if the operation is interrupted because of max time on-line expiration, the operation reference kept by the RF base device object was not cleared. This prevented any future attempts to send the network description for that device.
  • Server Bug fix - Changed the server build script for Linux so that the 64 bit file offsets will be used by the run time library rather than the default of 32 bit file offsets.
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a potential bug that could occur if a check for duplicate records was posted but then abandoned by its client (the particular case being addressed was data collection), That check would not get removed from the queue of other checks and, as a result, all new records processing would get stuck for this collect area.
  • Server Bug fix - Added a state to the BMP1 data polling operation to recognize when we are waiting for a check on the newest record. Also added code in the BMP1 message handler that will prevent us from processing an incoming message when we are not in a state where we are looking for that message.
  • Server Bug fix - Added virtual methods to the base PakBus node class that can be called when messages are sent to start or end a PakBus session. These methods have been overloaded in class Bmp5::Datalogger to ensure that the clock schedule is honored. This addresses a problem that has been observed with various Fat Spaniel customers that can result in their station times being reported as off.
  • Server Bug fix - Added a new timeout for BMP1 transactions. The timer for this condition starts when a message is posted for a BMP1 transaction to send. It will get cleared when the router is ready to send that message and it will get reset when any other transaction has a chance to send a message. The purpose of this timer is to guard against the rather rare cases where the RF-TD base can get stuck in a mode where it does not ever raise its RxRdy bit.
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a problem in the base class that implements the PakBus serial packet protocol where, if communications became disabled, all links were immediately abandoned with no attempt to send "off-line" serial packet messages. On most link types, this was relatively harmless. However, on RF95 type links, this could lead to problems because the datalogger would not drop the CS I/O ME line so the subsequent attempt to "undial" the link was doomed to fail.
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug where the hangup delay setting was not honoured for the PakBus/TCP server device type.
  • Server Bug fix - Added an optimization to the code that generates the parts of the configuration XML structure associated with device and collect area settings. The SettingCollection class as well as the Setting class will now cache the XML structure when the settings are read or are generated for the first time. From that time forward, the only parts of the structure that have to be changed are the parts associated with settings that have changed. This has the potential to address a problem where it was taking upwards of 2 minutes to generate the XML structure.
  • Server Bug fix - Added a optimization with the statistics collections used by devices. Previously, the statistics table name was generated each time that it was needed from the device name and the statistics type name. This could represent a significant CPU load each time that statistics needed to be updated.
  • Server Bug fix - Added code to the operation in the cache thread that checks for the uniqueness of "new" records received from BMP1 and PakBus dataloggers that will catch any exception thrown during that operation and ensure that the "client" collect area gets the notification that the check is complete. Also added code in this event to post a failure message in the comms logs since otherwise, the error could slip by unnoticed. This may have been the cause of some lockups.
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug where, if a session was closed on which a clock set transaction was waiting (not yet active), that transaction would not get deleted. The result of this was that, when the clock set was complete, the server would attempt to report the outcome for a transaction and session that was no longer valid. This could lead to a crash
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug associated with restoring device and collect area settings where, if a setting was not stored in the configuration file when the network map was restored, the cached_xml reference for that setting would not be set when the setting needed to be written. The result of this bug was that, under some conditions, attempts to save the network map would fail.
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug in the CoraServer destructor that would throw an exception resulting in a Linux segment violation when the server was not startable (this was due to a file write permissions error in one test case but can also be due to exceeding file system quotas).
  • Server Bug fix - Fixed a bug where automated clock check/sets were not working for NTCIP-ESS type devices.
  • Server Bug fix - Added code in the link failure event handler for the root level device class (serial ports, TCP serial ports, etc.) to avoid calling on_link_failure() or changing the line state if an open is pending. This code was already setting a one second timer following which it would report an open failure (this delay was to avoid resource exhaustion that could occur under some race conditions). If another request was made while the delay was pending, that second open attempt could get prematurely clobbered when the timed failure event was handled.

  • Server Bug Fix - The time-out for the BMP1 data advise operation was being set to a value that was far too long by orders of magnitude.
  • Server Bug Fix - If a BMP1 station received a data collect response after collection was aborted, the server could crash.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added code to evaluate the an RF95T base's network description on successful completion so that, if the network was changed while the description was being sent, a new operation will be posted.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added code to the classic datalogger synchronization sequence so that, if the datalogger is on an RF95 link, two carriage returns will be transmitted back-to-back rather than just one followed by retries spaced by the link response time.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added code to prevent the file control operation from getting table definitions from the logger when the program is stopped in order to send an operating system via BMP5.
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug involving RF95 links with repeaters where, if a lot of the dataloggers in the RF network had requests pending at the same time and the server was unable to communicate with the RF base, only a portion of the pending requests would fail as a result of the failure on the base.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added time for file send and file control transactions so that the datalogger has time to finish rebooting before PC400 tries to communicate.
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the LgrNet List Comm Ports transaction where, on certain host computer configurations, the underlying call to EnumPorts() could fail and lead the server to attempt to allocate too much memory.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added code that will prevent the cache manager thread from "bailing" its command queue while the LgrNet create backup file transaction is active.
  • Server Bug Fix - When a data file reaches 2 gigabytes it appears that a seek fails and the new data is written to the start of the file.
  • Server Bug Fix - TAPI connect results in blue screen w/some modems. (Note that problem is not completely fixed.)

  • Server Bug Fix - Added code to removed an "orphaned" active brokers when the server is restored from an XML structure (the new server config file).
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug associated with serial port support (likely TAPI as well) that could lead to a lock-up in the overlapped I/O version of execute() if ReadFile() returned ERROR_IO_PENDING. The old code attempted to get the overlapped result if the return code was not equal to ERROR_IO_PENDING. It should have been doing this if the last error equal to ERROR_IO_PENDING. With some drivers (FTDI), this would lead to the call to GetOverlappedResult() not returning which could eventually lead to a server lock up if the main thread was waiting for the serial port thread to end.
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug on in the code that processes table definitions from BMP3 loggers (CR5000 and CR9000) where the program_running flag was not set appropriately when a table other than the status table was encountered. As a result, in a merge update, "old" tables were not deleted because the program_running flag was not set.
  • Server Bug Fix - Fixed a bug in the code that processes table definitions from a BMP3 logger where the program information setting would not get set to indicate that there was no program running when table definitions were refreshed without the reset option. This could lead pc400 and pc200 to attempt to keep polling the datalogger.
  • Server Bug Fix - Added code to recognize when a BMP5 datalogger program has been paused as opposed to being stopped (the datalogger will return a value of 3 rather than 1 or 2). When the logger is in this state and table definitions are refreshed, any old collect areas that are no longer present will now be erased.

  • Communications Server 1.3.6.41 (since 1.3.5.x): Fixed bug in the server that caused it to crash (external exception) if a Numeric or Graphic Display launched from the Connect Screen tried to display any values from a table (inlocs, public, or final storage) in a table-based datalogger (Edlog or CRBasic datalogger) that had more than 227 fields.
  • Fixed a bug in the server that prevented it from collecting "most recently stored records" from a table-based datalogger if the datalogger had not stored at least that many records since LoggerNet’s last collection.
  • Added support for communicating with CR1000s with newer operating systems (>=CR1000.Std.04.obj) that work with CFMs.
  • Added capability to abort the program send command for all dataloggers.
  • Implemented a new CoraScript command ("create-backup-file") to back up the server’s network as well as the data cache and collect areas (and other files as stipulated by the user, including use of wildcard "*" and "?" characters) while the server is running. This makes backing up the full state of the LoggerNet server more practical. This command can be run from within a batch file with other CoraScript commands on a schedule using the TaskMaster. Along with this, also implemented the command to restore the network from that backup file ("lgrnet-restore-snapshot").
  • Fixed a bug related to processing table definitions from BMP3 dataloggers (CR5000 and CR9000) that prevented data collection when a table contained boolean variable types.
  • Added WinSock error codes to the Comms log for troubleshooting IP connections.
  • Increased the minimum time out for an Edlog datalogger to compile its program from 90 seconds to 180 seconds (three minutes).
  • Changed handling of FP2 formatted data to recognize INF and –INF values.
  • Can now change the case on device names without upsetting the other settings for the device.
  • Added code for the RF400 series of radios to make call-back functional when the radios are in "transparent" mode (i.e., dialed, not in PakBus mode). This is accomplished by setting the base radio mask to 0xFC00 (ATMK FC00 ) when the link is being hung up or when the link is being set up to receive call-back so that it’s a predictable address for the remotes to dial.
  • PakBus Graph 1.5: Allows users to "lock" PakBus devices to a fixed location on the screen to make viewing the network easier.
  • CardConvert 1.0: Replaced the TOBConvert utility with CardConvert to support binary data types and files from CR1000 compact flash cards.
  • New features in CardConvert include: can increment file names to prevent mistakenly overwriting files; remembers settings and directories; better feedback about conversion progress and results, optionally will select unused filenames for output filenames; simple help; launched from toolbar rather than Start menu; allows you to open View from its main screen to view the data files; creates new files when encountering filemarks and (new) "removemarks."
  • DevConfig 1.3: Added several devices, including the RF401 spread spectrum radio w/ PakBus capability, CC640 camera, CD295 DataView Display, and TGA100.
  • Added new settings for other devices, including the CR1000, NL100, and SC105.
  • Short Cut 2.4: Reverted to default.plt and table.plt sensor files similar to those in Short Cut 2.0-2.2 for measuring the program signature in order to preserve forward compatibility so that Short Cut can edit programs created in those earlier verisons. Programs created in Version 2.3.x will have to be recreated to be used in this and subsequent versions.
  • Short Cut 2.3 and 2.3.1: Added support for alternative groups of sensor files, specifically to support sensor files developed for sensors specific to European users. The SCWin.EXE was modified to read new settings in the sensor files and display a menu item under the Settings menu to offer options for viewing "Campbell Scientific Inc" or "Campbell Scientific Ltd" sensor groups.
  • Added support for interfaces requiring special wiring between the datalogger and sensors: LLAC4 (4 channel device for reading low level AC signals on digital control ports), SW12V (standalone switched 12V relay cable for HMP45C sensors), Terminal Input Modules for the AGS Level Sensor and CNR1 Net Radiometer, A547 interface for the CS547A Conductivity and Temperature Probe, QD1 interface for quadrature shaft encoders, SDM-AO4 4-Channel Analog Output Module, and SDM-CVO4 4-Channel Current/Voltage Output Module.
  • Added support for outputting data to the CR1000’s compact flash (CFM100).
  • Added new CSI sensor files: 107 Temperature Probe (4-wire version) for multiplexors, 108 Temperature Probe (3-wire) for multiplexors 108 Temperature Probe (4-wire) for multiplexors, AGS Level Sensor (Metritape), CNR1 Net Radiometer, CS100 Barometric Pressure Sensor, CS205-LC Fuel Temperature Sensor for the MetData1 and ET106, CS215 Temperature & Relative Humidity Sensor, CS505-LC Fuel Moisture Sensor for the MetData1 and ET106, CS512 Dissolved Oxygen Probe, HMP45C (6-wire) Temperature & Relative Humidity Sensor on the SW12V, NRG #200P Wind Direction Sensor, NRG #40 Wind Speed Sensor, Device for Analog Input from SDM-AO4, Device for Current/Voltage Input from SDM-CVO4, WindSonic-LC 2-D Sonic Wind Sensor for the MetData1, Wind Run Calculation, Fixed bug that prevented workable DLD files for 21X dataloggers for sensors that used 50/60 Hz rejection options for analog voltage integration.
  • SMS 4.9 1: Fixed a problem with collecting data from SM16M modules set for fill & stop. Data collection would proceed as expected, almost until the last "chunk" and then would either fail with a "too many errors message" or just get in a loop where it tried over and over and over to collect that last chunk.
  • Miscellaneous: Updated instruction definition files and help for CRBasic dataloggers.

  • Various improvements have been incorporated into the communications engine, especially to support the new CR1000 datalogger.
  • Fixed a minor bug in the communications engine that prevented it from collecting tables from CR5000 or CR9032 dataloggers that contained boolean variables.
  • Used a different sequence for closing sockets and threads during shutdown by clients, including EZSetup and LogTool to make it more robust when used with certain third party antivirus software.
  • Made it possible to use regional settings with alternative separator characters (e.g., commas for decimal separators and periods for thousands separators), particularly noticeable in the Connect Screen's Numeric Monitor.
  • Improved the performance of the CRBasic Editor when using the keyboard cursor keys to scroll left-right or up-down. This was very noticeable on slow PCs (~350 MHz).
  • File Control: The properties button has been removed. A delete button has been added. The user can now pause and resume a program.
