18356 Apogee Pyranometer Leveling Base

Overview

The 18356 leveling base, manufactured by Apogee Instruments, is required to attach the CS300, CS320, or SP230 pyranometer to our CM225 solar sensor mounting stand. The 18356 levels the sensor in the horizontal plane, helping to ensure accurate solar radiation measurements. The 18356 uses a bubble level and three adjustable leveling screws to level the sensor.

Detailed Description

The 18356 has several functions:

  1. It provides a secure, stable mount for the CS300 or SP230. A bolt secures the pyranometer to the leveling base.
  2. The bubble level and three leveling screws allow the pyranometer to be adjusted to level for accurate solar radiation measurements.
  3. The base is attached to a CM225 Solar Sensor mount using three mounting screws, which allows the pyranometer to deployed on a variety of instrument mounts.

  1. The leveling base provides physical stability and helps ensure the sensor is leveled correctly. It is not recommended to use the sensor without the base. The sensor mounts to the base with an included bolt. However, a user-supplied plate with a hole drilled in it could be used instead to accept the sensor’s mounting bolt.

    Note: Whatever mounting method is used, the sensor has to be levelled to operate correctly.
