CR10X and weather data upload

theodoros Jun 25, 2010 02:43 PM

i m using a campelsci cr10x data logger for collecting the data into my computer in a .dat file. using netlogger.

now i m interested if it is possible to collect and upload the data to wunderground or a personal website so that more people can see the weather conditions.

is it possble?

i found out that this can be done by using some extra software like the webserver from Campbell also the RTMC tool (integrated in loggernet) to create the page.

can you help me with this ?

i have rtcm server software and netlogger 4.0

thank you in advance.

You will want to refer to these threads for weather underground info:

For the RTMC web server solution, you create your displays in RTMC or RTMC Pro, and run the project you created in the web server. You'll need to provide access from the outside world in to your web server (firewall settings). For this, you'll need to talk to whoever manages your IT department. For further help on RTMC, you should contact your local CSI office and ask questions directly.

thank you very much for the reply.

I found out another way to upload my data to a website ( http://xania-xalepa.meteoclub.gr/ ) using cumulus programm.

I configured cumulus to read the .dat that cr10x is saving to the computer and to use it automatically like the easyweather.dat .

the thing is that it cant read corectly the cr10x.dat

i attach a photo somaybe sb can help me

I don't know for sure, but in my quick perusal of their website it doesn't look like Cumulus does that. It wants to read the data from your weather station directly and upload that to a website (plus write the data to it's data files), not read someone else's data (from Loggernet) and upload that to the website.

You are probably better off asking on the Cumulus web forums...

ok, is there any other maybe simplier way to upload the data from the cr-10x to the internet?

Dana Jun 13, 2011 07:33 PM

There are a variety of ways. The easiest is probably creating a project in RTMC and running the RTMC Web Server on a computer.

Here is an article on our web site:

thank you for your answer :)

does the CR1000 is similar to cr-10x in connection? since i dont you NL100 network interface is it still possible? I will take a look and hope i can make it :)))))) thank you.

The CR10X does not have an IP stack. Thus, from the article, the "datalogger as a web server" is not an option. Also, the Java-PakBus SDK is relevant only to CR1000, CR800/850, and CR3000 dataloggers.

Again, your easiest option is to use RTMC and the RTMC web server, or use RTMC Pro to output images that are the source for images in a web page.

theodoros,
I too have been attempting to upload CampbellSci data to Cumulus.
The way I do it is a bit long winded at present.
At present I use "Weather Display"(WD) for my Weather Station Display and to upload to the internet. I have configured WD to output a "customtext.txt" file in the Easy Weather.dat format and Cumulus reads this file. The data looks good and Cumulus seems to be a nice clean programme that uploads to the internet easily.
I would like to be able to configure Logger Net Split to change the Campbell.dat file to an Easy Weather.dat file and allow Cumulus to read that file, but am having some difficulty getting my head around doing that.
The following website contains a link to the Easy Weather Dat file format http://www.jim-easterbrook.me.uk/. I have found a couple of errors in this, but basically it very helpful.
We may be able to help each other with this issue.

regards
Brian
