CR Basic on a multiple monitor computer

rlwoell Nov 10, 2016 08:37 PM

This post is about a nuisance problem and not a critical logger issue.  But it is not something I have been able to find a solution to so I bring it to the user form in hopes that someone has a solution or at least can confirm it on their setup.

I am running a laptop with two external monitors with Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit, SP1.  Everything works okay when I bring up either RTDAQ or LoggerNet.  I can set the various task on my monitor of choice.  For example, I can have the main screen on one monitor, CRBasic on another and View Pro on the third.

The problem I have is within CRBasic.  If I bring up the help screen for a topic, it opens and displays on a single monitor.  However, if I then click on Example, that screen opens up across all three monitors.  I can resize it of course, but the next time I open an example it again spans all the monitors.

We have run into some problems with multiple monitors under different circumstances. We will take a look. Which version of CRBasic are you using?

The CRBasic editor I am using is 3.6, build 3.6.0.14.

I've entered a bug for the example window not having persistent size and location. Fixing these should help.

This seems to be related to Windows when working with multiple windows. We have found a way to store the window positions.

- To store the Example window position, close the Main Help window before closing the Example.
- To store the Main Help window position, close the Example window before closing the Main Help.

Through email, rlwoell said he ran into this mult-window problem with another company’s software as well. These steps worked with it too.
