Modbus communication

RS May 3, 2016 08:49 PM

To start off with I'm a novice and just trying to make a project work with equipment we have on hand.  We are looking to monitor flow with an ISOC flow meter connected to a CR 10 triggering an ISCO sampler.  The CR 10 will also be connected to a cell modem and weather station so we can remote connect to it.  The flow meter can communicate with the sampler via modbus, but then we lose the ability to connect to the CR 10.  Is the CR10 capable of reading modbus signals.

The CR10 is not capable of being a Modbus master device. You will need a newer datalogger such as the CR800 or CR1000.

I might be able to borrow a CR10X, does that have the capability I would need?

The CR10X has a very limited Modbus master capability. It does not support the Modbus mode needed to get data from the ISCO flow meter.
