The ZX300 (previously known as the ZephIR 300) is a continuous-wave (CW) lidar system that provides remote wind measurements across ten user-defined heights from 10 m to 200 m. It is ideal for applications that require wind measurements at multiple heights, and for locations where the installation of a tall tower is difficult.
The ZX300 has been used worldwide for site assessment, prospecting, and turbine micrositing; extreme flow conditions; power-curve assessment; permanent wind-farm anemometry; and complex site analysis. For more information, see the ZX Lidars website at www.zxlidars.com.
A Performance Verification Certificate is also available for purchase. Contact the Renewable Energy Group at Campbell Scientific for more information.

The ZX300 is calibrated to an industry-approved standard. Its proven technology has been rigorously tested via IEC equivalent power performance measurements, extensive onshore/offshore sites, and tall mast (193 m) verifications.
The ZX300's infrared beam illuminates natural-atmospheric aerosols such as dust, pollen, or rain droplets. When the infrared beam hits these aerosols, some light is backscattered into a receiver. Wind affects the motion of these aerosols, and changes the backscattered light’s frequency. This frequency shift is measured by a photo-detector, and from these measurements, wind speed and direction are calculated.

The ZX300 is compatible with the CR3000, CR1000, CR800, and CR850 dataloggers. These data loggers can communicate with the ZX300 to pull data and make it available through the data logger, while simultaneously making other environmental measurements. This functionality gives users the ability to collect their ZX300 data in the same manner as with their existing Campbell Scientific equipment. Users are also able to retrieve ZX300 data through other methods, protocols, etc., that are compatible with Campbell Scientific data loggers.
The ZX300 is a LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) measurement system used to make wind speed measurements at user-configurable heights between 10 to 200 m. The ZX300 is a coherent LiDAR that uses continuous-wave technology to gather high-quality wind-speed data. The ZX300 is well suited for both onshore and offshore applications, and it has a proven design with over three million hours of operation and 650 deployments in extreme conditions across the globe.
