To communicate via land-line telephone, a Campbell Scientific field modem is required at the datalogger site, and a Hayes-compatible modem is required at the calling end. Land-line telephone communication can also be used for remote RF (radio frequency) or multidrop networks. Campbell Scientific strongly recommends using surge protection if it is not provided by the phone company.
