Overview
The SP5-L is a 5 W solar panel that is typically used as a recharging source with our CR300-series dataloggers, as well as our CRVW3. It may be suitable for use with other data loggers, provided that the system's power recharge requirements are low enough. The SP5-L cable has a user-specified lead length that terminates in pigtails to attach directly to the terminal strip of the data logger.

Detailed Description
The SP5-L solar panel captures solar energy via a 72 in.2 surface area. It is only suitable for systems with low power requirements. Sites must also have good exposure to sunlight.
The SP5-L differs from the SP5 only in its cable termination. The SP5-L cable terminates in pigtails that attaches either to the data logger's terminals or a standard power supply. In contrast, the SP5 cable terminates in a connector for attachment to the ENC200 enclosure.
Included mounting hardware consists of one part no. 17492 U-bolt and matching nuts. The U-bolt has a 5.398 cm (2.125 in.) space between the U-bolt legs. This hardware allows the solar panel to be mounted to a 0.75-1.5 in. IPS pipe [25.4-50.8 cm (1-2 in.) OD].

Regulators control the current flowing to the battery and prevent the battery current from flowing to the charging source. These solar panels do not include an on-board voltage regulator, so a stand-alone regulator would be required to complete a power supply.
Typically, these solar panels are connected to a CH100, CH200, PS100, or PS200, as well as to the battery base of a CR3000 or CR5000. The PS100 and the PS200, as well as the battery base of the CR3000 and CR5000, include an internal regulator.
