The SDM-CAN interface allows a Campbell Scientific datalogger to sample data directly from a CANbus communications network. CANbus data can be stored (and synchronized) with other data values measured directly by the datalogger, allowing testing and verification of CANbus-based data alongside measurements made independently via the datalogger's input channels. The SDM-CAN also supports transmission of data onto a CANbus network.
Features
- Supports CAN 2.0A and 2.0B active and passive modes
- Supports up to 1 Mbaud data rate
- Uses latest Philips SJA1000 CAN controller clocked at 16 MHz
- The CANbus protocol is used in a number of networking applications including vehicle testing applications (VDAS)
- Allows up to 16 SDM-CAN units to be addressed and simultaneously connected to a datalogger
Specifications
- Operating voltage: 7 to 26 Vdc
- CANbus physical interface: uses Philips PCA82C250 driver for 1 Mbaud capability, for use in 12V powered systems. For 24V systems, a special version fitted with the PCA82C251 driver is available. This version can also be used in 12V systems, but has increased power consumption (approx. 50 mA)
- Operating temperature range: -25° to +50°C
