28033 Ethernet In-line Surge Protection

Overview

The 28033 provides in-line surge protection for Ethernet connections. It can be used to protect Ethernet products from damage by electrical transients conducted through the Ethernet cable. Keep the 28033 in mind when deploying an NL115, NL120, NL200, NL100, or CC5MPX outdoors with long or exposed Ethernet cable runs. Please remember that this device only works if it is well grounded.

Detailed Description

The 28033 is cost effective surge protector for Ethernet-based systems. It is compatible with 100 Mbps data and 48 V POE systems. Protection is provided on all eight Ethernet pins. The 28033 should be mounted as close to the protected equipment as possible and the integral ground wire should always be connected to a ground network designed for maximum dissipation of electrical surges. The mounting feet can be used to screw the 28033 directly to an enclosure's mounting plate.

A straight-through Ethernet cable is required to connect the 28033 to the Ethernet device.

Another straight-through Ethernet cable is required to connect the 28033 to the computer or router/hub. Most users will already have a cable from their network for this connection, but they may choose to purchase the 28900 Ethernet cable if they need a longer cable. The 28900 has a 10 ft length.
