| Temperature Ranges (hide details) | ||||
| -ST | -ST Tested -25 to +50C | |||
The Standard Temperature Testing range is -25° to +50°C. Individual units are warranted to perform within published specifications over this range, which is included with product purchase.
| -XT | -XT Tested -55 to +85C | |||
Extended Temperature Testing over the -55° to +85°C range is also available. Individual units are subjected to performance tests at these extremes in a test chamber. Units that pass the tests are certified as extended temperature units.
Please note that manual operation of the "Program" button in MD485s may be compromised at extended low temperatures (-25° to -55°C). The Program button is used only when configuration settings are being manually downloaded to the device from a computer. |
| Warranty Lengths (hide details) | ||||
| -SW | -SW Standard 1yr Warranty | |||
At the time of purchase, the MD485 includes a standard warranty of 12 months. See our full warranty policy in the MD485 manual for the terms and conditions of this warranty.
| -XW | -XW 4yr Warr Extension | |||
Our Extended Warranty adds 48 months to the standard 12 month warranty, bringing the total warranty period to 60 months. The extended warranty may be purchased only at the time of original product purchase. It may NOT be "added later." Except for the increased coverage length, the same terms and conditions apply to the extended warranty as apply to the standard warranty.

| Common Accessories | ||||
| 15966 | Wall Charger 12Vdc 800mA Output, 100-240Vac 50-60Hz w/Barrel Plug, 6ft Cable | |||
This ac/dc transformer accepts inputs from 90 to 260 Vac @ 47 to 63 Hz, and then outputs 12 Vdc @ 880 mA for use by the MD485 (typically used at the PC where ac power is available). The 15966 is fitted with a cable and barrel plug to connect the transformer to the MD485; cable length is 6 ft.
| 14291 | Field Power Cable 12Vdc Plug to Pigtail, 2ft | |||
Older dataloggers and dataloggers that are using the RS-232 port to communicate with the MD485 require the 14291 Field Power Cable to power the MD485 via the datalogger. The 14291 allows the MD485 to be powered from a suitable 12 Vdc power supply. It terminates in a barrel plug on one end for connection to the MD485 and two pigtails for connection to the 12V and GND terminals on a power supply. The cable has a 2 foot length.

| CABLE2TP-L | 2 Twisted Pair 22AWG Cable w/Drain | |||
The CABLE2TP-L is used for MD485-to-MD485 connections. It's a 22-AWG, two-twisted-pair cable with a Santoprene® jacket and an aluminum mylar shield. Cable length is user-specified. Lengths between stations can vary with the needs of the application. Campbell Scientific generally recommends a maximum cable length across the network of less than 4000 ft (1300 m). However, a longer cable length may be possible by using addressing and optical isolation within the network. Chapter 8 of the MD485 manual provides some additional information on configuring large MD485 networks. We also recommend that you consult an applications engineer for assistance in configuring a network of this type.
