Unable to use Loggernet Mobile instead of LoggerLink

Otemohu Jul 6, 2016 02:14 PM

Hi,

I used Loggerlink and i'm still using it cause it is functionning. I have installed LoggerNet mobile since several month. It works and since some weeks, it is impossible to connect to the distant network (managed by LoggerNet Admin).

The IP address is good, login and password too. Maybe is there an issue with the port 6789? How to know if it is the good one?

Platform is Smartphone with Android version 6.0

Is the problem that you are not connecting to the LoggerNet server? If not, is the IP address open to the outside world or is it on a private network? If it's on a private network, the phone Wifi should be connected to a network that is able to see the IP address. For example, if my device connects to our wifi guest network, I cannot connect to my LoggerNet server. I have to change my phone settings and connect to the employee wifi network before I can connect to my LoggerNet server.

Yes, I'm not connecting to the LoggerNet server. But the IP adress is the good one on a private network. When I'm connecting to this, it is by Wifi and DHCP. The IP address allocated by the routeur is in shape of the others so it should work no?
Or do I have to fix my IP adress (and maybe DNS server address before connecting? If yes, it is boring...

Why is there any problem with LoggerLink? Cause it is not connecting through LoggerNet server but directly to the datalogger?

Have you tried restarting the LoggerNet PC?

Can you ping the LoggerNet server from your mobile device? (Need a ping app)

Are you sure that remote connections are enabled in your LoggerNet server? (verify LoggerNet Options -> Allow Remote Connections is enabled)

Do you have any firewall settings that may be preventing the connect?  (You might try temporarily disabling the firewall to see if you are having firewall issues)

Do you have LoggerNet security enabled? (verify username and password)

No I did not try restarting the computer. But the ping to the server is working from my smartphone.

I'm sure Loggernet remote connection is activated since I can connect with Loggernet remote to Loggernet Admin (running on the server). Checked yesterday on the field.

Firewall is activated. But again I can connect with all apps (FTP app, loggerlink, Li8100A app) except Loggernet Mobile app.

Loggernet Security is enabled but login and password are entered correctly.

The LoggerNet server logs would be good to look at.  You should see a log entry like this in the transaction log when LNMC tries to connect.  It might give more details if there is a connection being made from the app.  If nothing shows up, we are dealing with a Network or Firewall issue that is preventing LNMC from establishing the connection.

"2016-07-07 10:24:46.552","","5","Network logon succeeded","","LoggerNet Mobile Connect (iOS)","192.168.29.63:58340"

Also, FTP uses a standard port, LoggerLink and the Li8100A app don't connect to the PC, but connect directly to the device.  It may not be the issue, but I have seen enough weird firewall issues that it is at least worth trying before troubleshooting much farther.

After having disabled the firewall of the PC, I'm always not able to connect to Loggernet with Loggernet Mobile. :((

Try to connect to LoggerNet with LoggerNet Mobile Connect. Soon after trying go to LoggerNet Tools and choose LogTool. In LogTool, select File, then Zip all log files.

If you would like a smaller set of logs to send, you could first Delete all Log Files, then try to connect with LoggerNet Mobile, then Zip all log files.

You can send them to twhite at campbellsci dot com and we will take a look.

Otemohu's problem is solved. I asked him to add an exception to his Firewall to allow LoggerNet Server. He found that there were two. One had private enabled, the other had public enabled. He enabled both private and public on both and he can connect with LoggerNet Mobile now.
