About Electrical Current Sensors
Electrical current sensors detect the flow of current along an electrical wire by measuring (or sensing) the magnetic field that is set up by the flow of electrical current. As such, the sensors are external to the jacket of the ac power cable and there is no direct electrical connection between the sensor and ac power.
