Solar Panels
Solar panels are photovoltaic power sources capable of recharging batteries. The minimum battery size and solar panel output required depends on the average current drain...
AC Chargers and Transformers
Our ac chargers and transformers plug into a 110 or 220 Vac source to recharge sealed rechargeable batteries.

About Charging Sources
Charging sources offered by Campbell Scientific include solar panels and ac chargers/transformers. The charging source powers the system while float-charging the rechargeable batteries. The batteries then provide back-up power if the charging source is interrupted.
A regulator must be used to connect rechargeable batteries with a charging source. The regulator controls the current flowing to the battery and prevents the battery current from flowing to the charging source. Some of our solar panels contain a regulator integrated into their cable.
Please note that the rechargeable batteries contained in our CR3000 and CR5000 dataloggers may also be recharged via vehicle power. To do this, a DCDC18R Boost Regulator is required (refer to the Regulator Section for more information).
