About Satellite

Campbell Scientific supports satellite telemetry through the GOES and Argos systems. Satellite telemetry may also be possible using Meteosat, Inmarsat-C, and GMS satellites; contact the factory for details.

The use of satellite telemetry offers an alternative for extremely remote locations where phone lines or RF systems are impractical. Communication is achieved by interfacing a datalogger to a satellite transmitter, which transmits the data from the field site to a receiving station.

Transmitters, antennas, interface cables and software, as well as system considerations (e.g., coverage available, transmit windows, fees, and restrictions) vary between satellite systems. Contact the governing body for further details, limitations, or restrictions:

GOES: NESDIS
Argos: NESDIS or Argos Inc.
