Frequently Asked Questions About our Products and Solutions

Frequently Asked Questions: SC32B

  1. Why do I need an SC32B to connect my PC to my CR510, CR500, CR10(X), 21X, or CR7 datalogger?

The SC32B provides isolation between the datalogger and PC. It also converts the CMOS logic levels of our dataloggers to the RS-232 logic levels required by most computers.

  2. Why don't I need an SC32B to connect my PC to my CR23X or CR5000?

The CR23X and CR5000 have one built into them. Therefore, they only require a cable to connect to the computer's serial port.

  3. My computer doesn't have a serial port. How do I use your equipment?

    There are several options:

    1. Use our SC-USB
    2. Use the SC32B with a #17394 cable
    3. Use your own USB interface. If you choose this option, be aware that not all commercially-available devices work correctly with our dataloggers and software.
